“Coach Daniel shook his head in dismay after the game. Taking on a top 5 ranked coach, coaching Dwarfs, versus Dark Elves was a real risk, but hey, I like a challenge and we can't always cherry pick right!

Starting with 11 elves vs 10 dwarfes we had a chance. The 10 dwarfs were heavily skilled up, although one had strength 2.

So, the match began, with a rock being thrown, badly hurting one of the blodgers, making it 10 v 10, wtih the Dwarfs now a huge TS advantage. The three elves on the line braced for the assault, and when the dust settled, another was lost for the match, badly hurt. Great, we hadn't had a turn and instead of being a player up for the match, we were now a player down!

The rest of the first half was occupied with the elves trying to steal the ball for the first few turns, and then using a rolling stall defence to only allow the dwarfs minimal movement each turn with the one blitz. On the last turn of their half, the Dwarfs got a chance for some blocks after a failed GFI or Dodge, and with a blitz they finally had a path to score. A GFI later, and they were 1-0 up, and a player up.

The elves line up to have a crack at the Dwarfs for 1 turn to try and even the numbers, but a blitz! This resulted in the Witch Elf going surfing via Frenzy.

Ok, surely things will improve for the 2nd half right. Hmmm, wrong. 2nd half started with perfect defence. Well, not to worry, our plan for the 2nd half was totally different to normal. Normally we would score and then play for the win/loss. However, we decided that being out numbered, we would secure the ball deap, stall a bit and then try and burst past the slow dwarves and score, going for the tie.

So, our one mighty blow blitzer took aim at the strength 2 dwarf aiming to take him out and even the numbers, double skull. Grrr. We push him away and then make a bad mistake. We have used our re-roll, and with our luck as it has been generally for the last few matches, we try and grab the ball to move it deap, rather than protecting it properly. Of course, we fumble it.

The dwarfs rush in and are all over our players and the ball. Well, we have one more turn, where we can get the ball in one TZ and get it away from them, all is not lost. We manage to pick up the ball, but fumble the throw this time, so the ball is right next to the dwarfs!

The rest of the second half is the elves trying to get back the ball, unsucessfully.

The dwarves score, leaving us two turns to salvage something out of the game. Another blitz is the result.....that's right, from four kickoff's we've had two blitzes against us, a perfect defence against us and our player BH by a rock. The dwarfs surrong the ball. We pick it up, but again fail to throw the pass.

All in all, a really crap game for the elves. No SPP about from the MVP, couldn't pickup, couldn't pass, couldn't do much of anything.

However, don't want to take anything away from coach PurpleChest. He played a great game, no real mistakes, just capatilised on my big mistake/bad luck. He also played the game in great spirit, so I look forward to a rematch sometime.

The reason I had 11 players by the way, is that the match before, i also took too BH in the first turn, and then two SI and two dead in the last 3 turns. If this trend of two badly hurt players before I move continues, these elves are going to struggle!

It sucks, lost two from 3, undefeated before.”
