“A very hard game for the human team of In Your Face, considering they faced (pun intended) one of the more promising wood elven teams and their highly talented team captain John Shaft.
In your face won the toss, but only to be blitzed promptly, allowing the elves to score very early. Not overly happy with the result but with a fierce wish to pay them back the humans set up again - only to be blitzed anew! The defense was really not ready for such an agile setup and struggled to prevent the Shaft II gang from scoring - this time they had more luck and were able to recover the ball. Francesco Marini was so close to scoring a touchdown, but failed the crucial last going for it. Shame on him!
Half 2 and the elves were receiving. A misplaced kick by Morpheus McMan set the ball off the bounds and a touchback was given to the elves. They promptly made their offense run, but their thrower fumbbled the ball which led to an early turnover in half two. The humans, smelling an easy touchdown threw everything into the endzone of their elven opponents but once again they underestimated the incredible skill of John Shaft, letting the woodies recover the ball, pass forward and score in the next turn. In the process of the counterattack, In Your Face blitzer Oda Nobunaga grew tired of the elvish star running circles around their formation and decided to use his trademarked leg-scissors to bring the elf down and to everyone's surprise it worked! Shaft was sent off the field, but with the 2-0 lead there wasn't much hope for the humans.
Nevertheless they got ahold of themselves and struggled and fought for every inch, finally getting their one and only touchdown in the very last turn of half 2.
A fun game in retrospective, with quite some bad luck on my side, especially in the first half. It surely would have been much more fun if the odds at that day were better!
