“With 4 handicaps forcing out Pritchard (virus) and Aeternus Eternus (it wasn't me), the odds were already evened up somewhat before the game began. Then in the opening turn, two players are hurt and one is killed (apothecary stepped in). My head in my palms, not yet rolled a die, and I'm staring an absolute drubbing in the face and 15.5 turns against 2 claw and 2 dirty players with no apothecary. My players did respond - the first blitz killing a zombie which regenerated - so at least I started with something positive to build upon.

My defense set up was good thereafter, and Ankkh got greedy. He sent his skilled wolf after my only dirty player on the field, presumably aiming to remove him so he can stomp on the rest of my team without retribution. That proved to be the turning point; the blitz did no damage, and the wolf - on it's own with little support - was hauled down and stunned. When he rolled over, Sabretooth jumped on it and smashed its collar bone, retiring it.

After that, the Hurush Pentacle players lost their composure and their blocking became weak. Having fouled every turn prior to it, the stronger chaos players mobbed the zombie foulers and locked them out of the play. The blitzer with the ball made a break for it, but couldn't get out the reach of emerging star player Fourteenth Horseman. His team mates beat him a path which he galloped through to pin the blitzer on the line, needing 2 go-for-its to score. He failed, the ball spilled, and Fourteenth Horseman scooped it up to run the length of the pitch and score the opener. In the process, the other blitzer caught up with him, only to get a hoof in the face and he'll miss his next game.

The 2nd half was a total walkover as every time a necromantic player needed to go for it, they struggled or fell. I think by now Ankkh was in damage control, so didn't foul back, for fear of his guard-skilled ghouls getting the boot. The remaining blitzer was killed by a block and stayed dead, another zombie was killed but regenerated. Other than that and scoring a simple second, not much of note happened until an impressive 3/4 field play to score the 3rd.

Tough dice for Ankkh but, in a way, slightly self inflicted as that wolf was by far and away the best Hurush Pentacle player and needed better protection than it got.”
