Handicaps for DD: Greatest, Bribe The Ref and Doom and Gloom.
Words had a relatively easy time the first half, DDs wiz missed with a lightning bolt T1 and Hthark made abyssmal blocks. Few casualties for Words though, and the foul was only a stun. Despite this DD manage to dodge into three tacklezones T7 and knock the ballkeeper down, forcing me to do a 3+ pickup to score. Fortunately Simper managed this and scored. 1-0 after the first half. One DP evicted for Cloggy and his apot used, but other than that both teams have suffered no damage.
Second half starts with a blitz for Words, who managed to reach the ball but couldn't secure it. Some tussling back and forth and DD almost managed to get clear, but the 4+ roll to pick up the ball with a Bull failed. The next turn Words wiz cleared the area around the ball, and Words scored in T3 for 2-0. One hobbo BH for DD, no players out for Words. Things looked very fine. However...
T4 for DD, receives and causes a SI/niggle on LoS. Apo could not patch the poor beastman back together. Next block caused a BH on another beastman, and finally a foul caused a RIP on the troll, Censor, who was unable to regenerate. Tough turn! Words were unable to stop the score or cause any hurt in return, and DD scored in T6, despite the blizzard that had swept down on the pitch.
Two turns left for DD, and three for Words. Words didn't try to score a third time, lacking rerolls and feeling slightly worried after the carnage that the CDs had managed. The defensive setup helded, barely, with Hthark failing a 6+ dodge to blitz the ballkeeper in T7 and a Bull failing to reach the ballkeeper in T8 in a last-ditch attempt to equalise. Final score 2-1 for Words!
A harsh game for both teams. DD had few breaks the first half causing a lot of frustration for Cloggy that he understandably expressed several times, but DDs dice greatly improved for the second half to the point that they almost managed to take the game to OT. Apo fail and regen fail hurt Words lot, but in the end only the win matters. Hopefully Words will manage to make it through the finals and get a couple of games in before the main event...
