“The end to my winning streak - it lasted 10 games exactly. This was also the first Touchdown I have conceded in 11 games and the nearest I've come to losing in 20 games or so. No bragging - that's just how things have gone lately - makes a nice change from the usual maulings. This was more like the usual way of things though...

Dwarves with 2Ag dodging without rerolls? Check. 3Ag Dwarves danced about like Elves.

1 Dice blocks all game long scoring pows or pushbacks? Check.

Losing the thrower very early on and a BOB for the majority of the game leaving me outnumbered all game save turn 16? Check.

Failing anything of consequence that could have helped me score? (Except for one thing :) ) Check.

This was one of those games where you know you are just gonna get kicked around. Maniehl is an excellent coach and positioned his guys - for the most part - so well it felt I was outnumbered by more than 2 all game. In a way that was true - the goblin had to stay clear of tackle zones and the troll was Relentlessly Stupid (tm) and effectively worthless for the entire game. Effectively 7 vs 11 then from turn 3 on. I managed to SI a longbeard but the Dwarves had packed a spare to line 11 up. They were also 100% resistant to anything other than the occasional stun.

I got desperate in the 2nd half after another of my drives crumbled in failure, trying anything in the hope that the goblin might dodge to slow another player down and the troll might actually do something of worth. Nope.

In the end it took a failed dodge - saved by stand firm. Then a failed blitz (skull) saved by reroll to a pow. And a dodge, scoop ball up and 2 GFI then... a long bomb at maximum range straight to the end zone to score with no rerolls, no pass, no catch etc. Just a straight throw needing all the luck I'd not had for the rest of the game...

And I got it.

On reflection the Dwarves deserve the win - they played well enough with good positioning and an endless stream of pows - but I'll be happy with the hardest fought draw I've had in a long time.

So whilst my winning streak of 10 wins/clean sheets ends neatly at 10, I'm still unbeaten in May which is a big achievement for me though in truth I know I was beaten here. The orcs just couldn't quite grasp the concept that's all :D

Nice game Maniehl, good cash for both, shame my Fan Factor - after going up in 1st 2 games - drops down one.

I guess it's true - Sometimes you're the bug, sometimes the windshield!
