My opponent played some loose defence in the first half, opening up a chance for me to 2 dice blitz him despite all my RR going down the tube pretty early. We knocked the ball down fine, and made a couple of lucky 3+ dodges to get to the ball, but we failed with our pass.
Our aggression cost us as he was able to recover the ball and I was overcommitted and so I couldn't stop him scoring after that.
Second half, we got a heap of KOs so we scored fast, but we were undermanned on defence as our Witch stayed KOd and punished when we took an aggressive defensive set and it didn't pay off - we put a Blodge Tackle Sidestepper on his own on one wing and he got the pow and also a stun.
He scored and I was 2-1 down with 3 turns to score.
We go forwards and are in a decent position at the start of T15, but we start the turn with a snakes dodge and we are out of reach of the endzone without a chainpush...
Opponent puts himself in a position where it is possible but I only get knockdowns and I lose the game. (The chain push play, was my Blitzer pushing the Blitzer then following up, then another player with dodge runs around the back to form a line of 3 behind that Lino. I then have a 2+ block to push her into my catcher on the diagonal bringing him into 2 GFI range. I would need to get the ball to him still with a pass or hand off, but the first piece of the puzzle - a push or push/pow on four dice - didn't fall into place.
Well I think I was screwed by the dice today (all the double skulls and the snakes) but that is also partly due to my team build - only having 3 RR at this TR/TS. Opponent didn't roll exceptionally well today either, but he had the long bench and RR to help him out, and none of his rolls at critical points (eg 2x GFI to score) came up bad whereas I got the crock when I needed to score or had a chance to set up the stop.
At least I didn't take the two deaths though so that is a relief.”
