Elite SMACK final!

Da Rippas pull off our second SMACK win in this marathon OT game against Khemri!

We brought two Goblin freebooters (that was all we could afford) and the Khemri couldn't afford Ramtut so brought nothing. Two Rippas BOBs missed the game and one Bones Blitz-ra niggled out. It was 14 against 13 from the start, but da Rippas 13 included three Goblins!

The Bones received first and had almost complete control the whole half. The ball landed near the LOS and da Rippas tried an early steal but failed. The Khemri then advanced slowly and beat up Orcs. In T6 we got a 2d shot at the ball-carrier after a couple of dodges and got him down, but one of the Mummies caught the bounce and that was that. 0-1 at half-time.

Da Rippas second half drive started with a SI-foul on a Mummy (no regen) that cost us our DP. But we got stuck on the Mummies anyway and had to make a run for it with less than optimal protection, trusting in speed to keep us away from the Bones. This worked and da Rippas scored 1-1 in T4.

At this point, things looked excellent for the Bones, as da Rippas could only field nine players (still including three Goblins) against eleven and there were five turns left to score. But one of the Mummies made a terrible mistake in T6 (misclick), costing the Bones the entire turn and forcing them to rush to a pass play. Khemri aren't very good at this, so it failed. 1-1 at full time.

On to OT, where the Bones got to receive, still with numerical advantage (9 v 7 at this point). They were ejected on the T1 foul however, with the ball still in the open. Da Rippas could put two TZ on it, forcing the Khemri to back-track. And as the Bones were out of RR (da Rippas had several), it was only a matter of time before something failed. When one of the Mummies doubleskulled, da Rippas could easily steal the ball and score 2-1 in T4.

The Bones still had a chance to fight the game to a draw, with four turns left and a 9-6 numbers advantage. But even with no opposing team on the pitch, the Khemri Thro-ra would have had to make three GFI with no RR to score. Da Rippas made it a little harder than this, but not very much. Needless to say, the Khemri failed and da Rippas could celebrate our second SMACK trophy.

GG drunkagent, see you around.
