#8 Motoko – Dead (RIP)
It was a promising to be a tough game when the Cyborg Legion traveled to meet Draconian Philosophy, and both teams delivered.

The game started with the Legion moving into excellent position to take advantage of whatever opportunities presented themselves. Despite their positioning, the dwarves set up an equally efficient defense, tying up everyone and leaving the bull centaur Socrates to move towards Saito, the Cyborg thrower. Moving up after clearing an opening, Saito fumbled his quick pass, leaving the ball open for the taking. Despite a mad scramble from several players on both teams, Saito recovered the ball and failed again to complete another quick pass. Fortunately for the Legion, Sechs was able to recover the bobbled ball and run down field. Draconian Philosophy quickly rallied, putting up a virtually impenetrable line in front of Sechs. Even so, Sechs managed to escape and delivered the ball to Batou, who stalled a bit, but scored following the death of Motoko at the hands of Marx.

In the ensuing kickoff, Draconian Philosophy dominated one side of the pitch, knocking over and shoving the Cyborgs with ease. Despite some initial ball handling issues, it looked like Draconian Philosophy would score soon, however a skilled block by Ishikawa put a score out of reach, for time was running out. Marx, angry at being denied, badly hurt Azuma, his second casualty of the night.

As the second half opened things looked somewhat grim for the Legion. Down a player and kicking to the dwarves, Marx started things with his third casualty, hurting Saito badly. Then Draconian Philosophy, following the opening created by Marx, proceeded to smash their way down one half of the pitch. Despite a valiant defense from the Legion, the Dwarves bashed them around leaving plenty of time for the hobgoblin Freud to successfully complete a quick pass to the Bull Centaur Descartes. Marx, in helping to secure the line, injured Edward III, for his fourth and final casualty of the game. Descartes would run the ball in shortly there after, leaving plenty of time to score again.

Now receiving, the Legion faced even worse odds, outnumbered 8 to 11. Despite this, they broke a hole in Draconian Philosophy's line, sending people into the backfield in hopes of a long pass to retain the lead. the dwarves would have none of that, quickly closing in on the Legion from all sides, leaving only Proto, deep in the Legion backfield, as the only player to escape their attentions. Attempting to take advantage of a breakout caused by Borma III, Proto made a quick pass to Togusa, but could not deliver. Camus from Draconian Philosophy attempted to grab the loose ball only to bobble it into the hands of his teammate Socrates. There was a mad scramble in which Kant killed Pazu (to have him be saved by the Apothecary), the legion put several blocks on Socrates (which only eventually drove him to the sideline) and Draconian Philosophy as a whole beat up the remaining Legion players. With time running out and pinned against the sideline, Socrates called for and received assistance from his fellow centaur Descartes, who flattened Togusa. With a bellow, Socrates tried to break through Borma III's grasp, only to be tripped and fall on his face (with knockout) to preserve the tie for the Legion.

Special acknowledgement goes to Marx, for the sheer violence he displayed. A well played game that tested the defensive capabilities of both teams to their limits!
