It was about time the dead kings ventured forth from their ancient arena, and the Krazy Krunchers looked to be a worthy opponent. The followers of Itzamná looked forward to their first journey, and were not disappointed in what they found at its end.

The crowd at the Chaos arena had such a variety of shapes that the dead were nearly taken aback, but they nodded and smiled their dry smiles when the roar of the crowd flowed through them, invigorating their purpose. The ancient warriors took to the field of battle, and their blows were mighty indeed. The first half of the game put half the opposing Beastmen in their dugout... and then the bloodlust distracted them from their other objective, and the Krunchers got hold of the ball and mauled their way to a touchdown.

This enthused the Beastmen so much that they continued their rampage in the second half, beating down with fury upon the undead host. This time it was the dugout of the dead that filled, and it seemed as though Chaos' victory was certain. Then Dave, the Beastman whose hands and hooves are normally quite dextrous, found that the dust and gore of the broken Skeletons and Zombies at his feet kept him from being able to pick up the ball!

After a few moments, though, he finally got hold of it and retreated to a safe position to wait for an open receiver. So many of Itzamná's followers were in the dugout that it didn't look good for them, until the Zombie Pot Maker pushed itself to the utmost, racing down the field with uncharacteristic speed to pound the ball out of Dave's hands! The stiull nearby Wight, Kan Boar, was surprised to find the ball falling into his bony hands, but a moment later Beastman Ear Biter knocked him down in turn. Ear Biter tried to secure the ball, but the remaining sludge on it kept it from his grip.

The few remaining Zombies rushed to aid Kan Boar, who lay between two Beastmen. With a sudden lurch, Kan Boar surged up and knocked Ear Biter down, which took the wight beyond Sucker Puncher's reach. Scooping up the ball, the sure-handed Wight made for the end zone while the remaining Zombies and Mummies did their best to get in the way of a possible blitz.

By now, though, Dave was standing, and finding himself the only one close enough to have a chance he charged Kan Boar. Sucker Puncher cleared the path with an excellent block, and Dave went for it, lowering his horns to slam into Kan Boar. But the Wight was too tough to fall so easily, and there was a roar from the crowd as Dave actually pushed him into the end zone for a TD!

After that it was all over but the shoving. A few more hits were laid down, and in fact a lucky blow from Morning Cook nearly killed Gore-Maker! Fortunately the Chaos Apothecary was paying attention to nearby reality for ouce, and managed to save the stricken Beastman.

As the whistle blew on this brutal match, both coaches were relieved that it hadn't been much, much worse. After all their players had been through, a tie was a very appropriate ending.

Thanks to FreeRange for a most excellent game! The CAS count doesn't really reflect how many players were off the pitch at times; I think we were 5 on 6 at one point. Through it all, FreeRange kept up good cheer and friendly chatter. I'll be happy to meet any of his teams on the pitch in future!
