We've faced DaCoach's dark elves before - in the finals of the 2010 Plate. We had the Count but only one mummy in that game, this time no stars but both mummies (and one's STR6!). Should be a good one.
We get one handicap (doom & gloom) and opt to receive. We advance with the ball versus a wall of elves - on T3 they manage to KO one mummy but burn up their only reroll trying to knock over the other one at the same time. We then badly hurt a blodge lineman and run the ball up one side. They pile the pressure in so we dodge back and switch to the middle, and then manage to badly hurt both their guarders (including an AGI5 one) - nice! Without rerolls they are having trouble getting at the ball and we score on turn 7 under little pressure to get two attempts to wake up our sleeping mummy.
This does however give them a chance at a 2-turn touchdown. They stream players into our half, but we're able to DP foul their AGI5 blodger out for a KO and they then need a 1d block to open up a receiver that comes up a skull... HALF TIME!
We kick off for the second half vs just 7 elves. They collect the ball and fall back carefully, looking for a way out of this desperate situation. On turn 3 we take advantage of a failed attempt to nail some ghouls to sack the ball carrier. They manage to bounce the ball free but can't recover it and we score to make it 2-0 on T4.
We kick off and immediately get a blitz that lets us throw their tackle/strip ball blitzer into the crowd with a frenzied ghoul, and they just don't have the numbers to be able to break through. Once again we nab the ball and run for their endzone. A zombie KILLS a lineman on T7 and their apo fails so we cast raise the dead and welcome him to our team! We then make it 3-0 with a handoff to a zombie on 5spps for a key skillup.
“Nice write-up, Clarkin, and a pleasure to play you as always.
Missed my golden opportunity to capatalize on the KO mummy, chasing ghouls with my lone tackler when I should have chased the ball.
A few turns more, and you write, when the BH's started rolling in, the game was more or less decided. ”
