#13 Metzengerstein – Broken Ribs (MNG)
NWFL Regular Season III - Part 2A
Game 1

Handicaps against: Duh, Where Am I? (Ulfhednar Hexenverr), Iron Man (For'twenny Bluntz)

Poor ball handling on the part of the Brainz really gave the Crusaders the advantage early in this game. 4 turns elapsed before the Brainz managed to get the ball to Iron Man Bluntz at midfield. The Brainz also weren't getting a lot of POWs, in part because of the fancy footwork of Otranto Frankenstein (Dodge). In a move of desperation with time running out, Bluntz made a break for the endzone but was tripped up by a zombie. He not only dropped the ball within easy reach of Ambrosio, he also stunned himself. Ambrosio picked it up and handed off to Montoni who took off. In a risky move, Montoni ran along the sidelines since the only Brainz player who could reach him was a zombie. Given how their dice had been rolling, Montoni didn't think he could make 2 GFIs and a 1-die blitz, but he was wrong. The crowd was forgiving, unlike how they treated Khan Ah'Buss when he was pushed out earlier (though he regenerated). They even threw the ball back in near the Brainz goal line. In a display of his phenomenal speed and coordination, Ambrosio covered 19 paces in 2 turns to score in turn 8.

The 2nd half saw all KOs return and the Brainz were only down 1 player (Sweetleaf killed early in the 1st half). The Crusaders received and Montoni caught the kickoff. He moved back to hand to Uncle Silas Ruthyn in the hopes that the new Wight would score and possibly skill up after the game. The Brainz were rolling a bit better in the 2nd half, and put a lot of pressure on the ballcarrier. Uncle Silas was forced to roll out and head back for the center of the pitch. The other Crusaders tried to cover him, but the Brainz found a chink in the cage and managed to strip the ball on a 1-die blitz. However, the bounce was favorable to the Crusaders. With some good blocking, Schedoni the Fiendish Friar grabbed the ball and took off towards the endzone. The Brainz made another valiant attempt to get the ball but could only get pushes on the Friar. With a little help from his friends, the super-agile ghoul dodged away and scored in T6. During the fighting, Metzengerstein was injured and will miss the next game. Without their kicker, the Crusaders just aimed for center pitch. The ball sailed all the way to the endzone and bounced just inside the pitch. The Brainz were able to get the ball to Bluntz, who managed to score in T8 as a mummy opened a hole the Crusaders stout defensive formation.

Thanks for the fun game, adambomb. The luck meter does not show how poor the dice were for you in the first half with all those pushes and skulls. Although I'd like to think my defensive abilities are improving and contributed slightly :) Good luck the rest of the season.

Skills (1):
Ambrosio the Mad Monk - Side Step (Aged, niggling injury)
