#5 Topaz Tiffany – Dead (RIP)
Vanguard National All*Star Challenge (July 2010) round 3 Final

Hired a wizard for the match. Cut a player to drop TR pre-match, got a handicap - Palmed Coin. Serves me right for trying to be sneaky, but hey, it's the Finals :)

This match report is coming almost a week after the match, so my memory is a little fuzzy.

The good - I won! Against dwarves! This was a tough match, and crimsonwolf played well. He forced me to use my wizard in the first to stop a T8 score, so I was kicking off to him in the 2nd half and was not able to prevent the score. Fortunately, I remember making something like 6 KO rolls in OT. Basicly, I got all my players back for OT, minus the dead lineman. The dice were favoring me most of the game. 3 of my 5 CAS came on fouls, Terry Turquoise was really on her game. We gained FF and made great money. \o/ Oh yeah, skilled up my +MA catcher.

The bad - Crimsonwolf lost FF. That just sucks, he played a good game and deserved to either gain FF or hold steady. Fickle fans.

The ugly - The niggling injury on Tyun Honorcrusher. Crimsonwolf didn't use the apothecary because the Slayer already had -AV, but it's always tough losing a skilled player (Mighty Blow in this case). Also, I believe the Death was from a failed apothecary, so that makes it worse because he saved the apothecary only to see it fail.

Thanks for the game, crimsonwolf. I was not expecting to win, especially against dwarves, and you played a solid game plan. I had a strategy, but mainly I got the rolls I needed at important times. Which is often the case between 2 good coaches. It also means something that you were the defending Vanguard champion, grats on repeat appearances. See you in FIBBA and NWFL.

Skills (1):
Judy Garnet - Block (to go with +MA)

Edited: My bad about forgetting the apothecary. That's what I get for waiting almost a week to write a match report. Yes, preventing the -MA on a skilled longbeard is better than preventing the death on an unskilled longbeard.
