“Investigation #36

The Investigators had found the lair of yet another cult worshipping the Old Ones. They boldly charged into the fray, ready for anything... Or so they thought.

The 'cultists' were nothing more than children, most of them hurt and starving, infested with some sort of parasitic organisms that removed their free will. Most of them were to starved to even fight, and the few who managed to get on their feet were barely able to hang on to their weapons.

Despite this they refused to lay down their arms, and snarling wordlessly they did their utmost to hurt and maim the Investigators. The Investigators, shaken, with tears in their eyes had no choice but to dispatch them all.

"This is not why I became a psychologist", cried Carolyn Fern. "I've been with you in this struggle from the start, but I just don't know... They were only children! I... I don't know if I can do this anymore. I need to take some time..."

And with that, Carolyn walked away from the Investigators, vanishing into the fog. One of the oldest, most experienced Investigators broken by this traumatic experience. When, or if, she returns is unclear...”
