#1 Bruenor Battlehammer – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#1 Bruenor Battlehammer – Smashed Collar Bone (-ST)
Well, this was a rape if I've ever seen one. The game started out fairly even - I got a BH Longbeard by a thrown rock, but then bigdog had some bad rolls the first few turns, so I guess that evens out. I receive and score relatively easily, and manage to hold back the Norse for the remaining turns.

After this things quickly go downhill. bigdog gets a pitch invasion to top his thrown rock off, and two more dwarves hit the BH-box (I apo one of them in an attempt to keep players on the pitch), and 3-4 of them get stunned. There's no real way I can defend with that, and bigdog scores in two turns.

Ah, well. Things like that happen. Thinking I have at least a fair shot at taking the lead again I position my players for a new kickoff. The dice come up with a blitz, during which I get one dwarf SI and one KO on casual blocks, leaving me with seven players on the pitch, barely able to pick up the ball and get some measure of protection. From this point, there's not much to do. The blitz allowed bigdog to move his players up to mine so that I can't move around without dodging, and with his superior numbers I can't accomplish much in the way of blocking either. So I basically bunch the Brigade together in the middle of my half and prepare them for a last stand, hoping a break will present itself.
It doesn't. Things go as expected with no one being neither lucky nor unlucky, and bigdog slowly works his way to my ballcarrier. The ball changes hands a few times during the last turns of the game, but in the end there's no way I can stop him, and he scores 1-2 on his last turn.

Setting up for the final turn in the event of a casualty, the dice at the kickoff, symbolically, I suppose, come up with another pitch invasion against me. Big surprise. This time I get off with only one dwarf stunned and it's not like it matters much anyway by now, but.. still.

And that's that. No one played especially risky or made any particular wrong moves, it was just the pitch invasion that screwed me.
And a word on those PI:s. In 29 games I've seen perhaps 6-7 pitch invasions, and they have *all* been against me. They never seem to show up when you actually have a tangible advantage in FF (and if they did, I bet it'd be when I was up 3-0 in the middle of second half anyway). Also, I always seem to lose them on the dice rolls alone, since my FF in 90% of the games is either roughly equal to my opponent's, like now, or a bit higher.

To round it all off, it could be added that another turn of good fortune for my opponent came about in first half when I killed one of his players and the apotechary failed, a few seconds after which the proxy server goes down and the norse lineman comes back to life. Not that I'm happy about killing a player, and not that it's likely to have made too much of a difference, the way things came out.. but *still*. Gah.. these matches, I tell you. They make you wish your line went down the minute you agreed to play, and stayed down for another six or seven hours. May they be few and far between.
