It's a pretty sad state of affairs if I get banned for fouling to protect myself from a team that took nothing but claw mighty blow and piling on.

Edit:

Watching the replay, on the first drive I defended normally, sending three guys after the ball when it went deep into his zone.

However, I did foul his prone players with killing skills each turn, often they were prone because he used piling on. Fouling is supposedly the counter to piling on. Unfortunately while I did get some of his killers KO'd, my guys got banned as well, and my numbers dropped quickly, especially when you count several key stuns on the first drive.

Unfortunately, an early turnover when I tried to pull my goblin back from the failed attempt to pressure the ball left both my blitzers tied up and my 5 speed safeties (I only had two blitzers this game) out of position.

The critical turn would be turn 3, I start this turn with 5 players who are standing, but the troll and the BOB are stuck in place (marked). The rest are only 5 speed. At this point there was a clump of 7 beastmen heading along the bottom widezone. Both my blitzers are prone, one is in the upper widezone, the other is surrounded by 6 beastmen and getting fouled. My BOB who is defending the bottom widezone is stunned, my goblin who is defending the bottom widezone is prone and marked. That leaves three 5 speed safeties back, unfortunately one is in the upper wide zone and the highway to the endzone is 7 spaces wide.

Ultimately, I was left with two orc throwers (neither with block) in position to set up a formation to defend a 7 space area in the wide zone, after that anyone who wanted to get there would have to try some dodges or go for its, so they couldn't be counted on.

Now I could set up loose screen to cover this area, however without anyone behind the two orc throwers to provide support, one blitz, with even a push result would open up a hole big enough to move the entire formation through. Essentially the only effect of setting up that screen would be to set my fragile orc thrower up as a target for his horde of 7 beastmen with damaging skills, not to mention a possible gang foul.

Realizing that I was out of position, I elected to consolidate my position around the only remaining active BOB and the troll in the center, where my lineman and my blitzer from the upper widezone could also reach and where my stunned BOB was. This also allowed me to hit a key foul with assists on his only remaining unit with the full set of claw /mb/PO.

Unfortunately, next turn shadow was able to bring in a beastman from the upper widezone and set up a better down field formation than I expected, one which meant that there was no way I would be able to get to his ball carrier before he reached the end zone. So at that point the TD was a forgone conclusion.

After that I continued to block and foul his killers that I was able to isolate, rather than walking into a bunch of blocks when the ballcarrier was already safe in scoring position. He continued to bash my guys as well, injuring at least one.

A combination of injuries and bans from the ref meant that I had literally had 5 guys left by the start of my first meaningful drive, while he got a bunch of his KOs back.

Orcs can't do anything on offense with 5 guys, so at this point I just took the blocks and fouls available.

So yeah, I don't see any violation here as I did play defense while I had the men to do it.

<shadow46x2> yarr gl sir
<PorkSol> interesting, this is the first true griefing team i've faced in over 150 games
<shadow46x2> who said it's a griefing team?
<PorkSol> it's obvioys
<shadow46x2> why?
<PorkSol> obvious too
<shadow46x2> a skillchoice makes it a griefing team?
<PorkSol> mmm hmm
<shadow46x2> soooo
<shadow46x2> taking mighty blow makes a team a griefer?
<shadow46x2> not really sure i follow your logic, but ok
<shadow46x2> so far you've caused more injuries than me
<shadow46x2> but i'm the griefer?
<PorkSol> so far
<shadow46x2> your logic is pretty absurd all around
<shadow46x2> but apparently...i'm the griefer
<shadow46x2> interesting logic
<PorkSol> fouling is part of the game
<shadow46x2> so are skills
<PorkSol> exactly
<shadow46x2> which means
<shadow46x2> taking skills, regardless of what skills they are....
<shadow46x2> doesn't make you a griefer
<shadow46x2> *gasp*
<shadow46x2> what a concept!
<shadow46x2> imo...you play orcs...that's more griefing than chaos could ever be
<PorkSol> orcs are recommended as a team for newer coaches to learn with
<shadow46x2> yes, because they're the best team in the game
<shadow46x2> they're overpowered, unbalanced
<shadow46x2> are you a new coach?
<PorkSol> newish
<shadow46x2> over 200 games....
<shadow46x2> that's not new
<PorkSol> 50 in 2008 and then the rest since the new client
<shadow46x2> but yet you still use orcs....sounds like griefing to me
<PorkSol> hey, believe what you want, but the intent of using all beastmen with killing skills is obvious
<shadow46x2> oh?
<shadow46x2> care to explain it to me?
<shadow46x2> cuz i'm not entirely sure i'm following you, particularly since i'm about to take the lead
<PorkSol> using all beastmen lowers your tv, so you face newer teams, then kill them
<shadow46x2> no
<shadow46x2> recycling players to constantly have unskilled players lowers your TV
<shadow46x2> i chose to use all beastmen because it's more challenging than stocking up on CWs and big guys
<PorkSol> unfortunate coincidence then
<shadow46x2> not really
<shadow46x2> maybe you just need to have a better understanding of people's intentions, instead of thinking you know what everyone is up to?
<PorkSol> i calls em like i sees em
<shadow46x2> well i won't bother trusting your judgement in the future then, because it's another one that you see wrong :)
<shadow46x2> not a single intent to go after the ball
<PorkSol> your team build doesn't lead one to expect a normal game, so i chose to avoid letting you kill my team.
<shadow46x2> it's ok
<shadow46x2> i'll make sure to report this game once i'm finished for violating the "playing to lose' rules
<PorkSol> if i get banned, that's a sad state of affairs, because i play normally vs normal teams, and I don't make killer teams
<shadow46x2> so?....i'm playing normally vs you
<PorkSol> but hey, maybe you want to drive away new people
<shadow46x2> why do you feel it necesary to treat me like a pariah just because i chose skills?
<PorkSol> those skills are the ones used by the griefer teams
<shadow46x2> so somehow because i choose them, i'm a griefer too?
<shadow46x2> last i checked...i'm about to go up 3-0
<shadow46x2> meanwhile, you have spent the entire game fouling, and not making a single attempt to go after the ball
<PorkSol> fouling is the counter to piling on
<PorkSol> tom anders himself said it
<shadow46x2> the opinion of one person does not justify throwing a game away just because you have a misinformed point of view
<PorkSol> whatever, if you want a normal game you have a funny way of going about it
<shadow46x2> really?
<shadow46x2> constantly going after the ball and trying to score is a "funny way to show it"?

------------
soooo let's see....

a) you never once tried to go after the ball...
b) your blocks were made with the goal of knocking someone down to gangfoul them
c) you fouled the entire game, using it as an excuse of "protecting" your players
d) you started off not by saying "hi" or "good luck"....but by accusing me of being a griefer....

let's get one thing straight...i have no issues at all with someone fouling the entire game...i've done it quite a few times, and i can respect that...

i have issues with someone fouling the entire game and then completely ignoring the ball to do so through the entire game....

you weren't "fouling to protect yourself"....you were fouling to foul....call it like it is...

but yet, through all of this....somehow...i'm the griefer....go figure
-----------------------------
"A combination of injuries and bans from the ref meant that I had literally had 5 guys left by the start of my first meaningful drive, while he got a bunch of his KOs back."

oh you mean the injuries that i inflicted on you?...you mean the *ONE* injury i inflicted on you in my turn 8?...on a goblin?

or do you mean the fact that you gangfouled every turn you could, and ignored the ball, resulting in 5 banned players...

not to mention that you had removed my "killers" by turn 2 of the first half....painstate & foulscumm in the BH box...but you decided to continue ignoring the ball for the rest of the game...

here's an interesting stat for you...

chaos players removed from game - 2 due to injury, 2 due to ejection....
orc players removed from game - 2 due to injury, *SEVEN* removed due to ejection.....

maybe that'll help you understand why i'm a little peeved...playing the ball doesn't net you a 4-0 loss and 7 ejections...ignoring it does...
