Warpstone Open VI Qualifier IX final

We finally made it to a meaningful game and this one is a MAJOR qualifier final. Heading into this game, Burnit Boys had replaced some rookies and were bound to get enough inducement money to hire Morg ā€˜nā€™ Thorg. We just did like them and fired a -ma unskilled lino so Burnit Boys would get less inducement money (and it worked). Still, they were able to hire Hthark the Unstoppable and I was fearing a lot his break tackling abilities.

First Half
Burnit won the initial toss and elected to reveive the ball (and we receive the punches). We managed to hold tight and avoided geting major injuries (Long Fella minotaur is a fearsome one) and forced an early score to see if we could reach halftime in a tying score (which we failed to do). Another bad news is that our dirty kicker got ejected on his first fould while only stunning a linodwarf.

Second half
We manage to cage well and advance comfrotably enough (despite letting the ball carrier open at least once) to make a turn 16 TD. The other positive not there is that we got rid of 2 linodwarves forcing Burnit Boys to play with noob hogbobs. The clock they was turned back and Burnit got 2 turns to try to win but a failed pass did them in (still, the TD was not easily done even afterwards).

Overtime !
We enter with 3 RRs to 1 and also the ball (which is now a must for any bashy team to hope for the win).
After 1 turn, we both are at 2 RRs each as I wasted some early on on a useless GFI (as usual).

We then go onto ubercareful mode cageing the ball and trying to advance and was finally able to make a breathrough on turn 6 of Overtime just as Grod was taunting me (saying I wasn't going to get in touchdown range). Burnit Boys did then manage to put some guys in front of me to prevent the Touchdown but a few blocks and one blitz opened the way to the winning touchdown.

We did it !

Fun game, and nice opponent!

Despite the large TV difference, my opponent was carrying a few injuries, and with the inducement of Hthark, the matchup was pretty even. My opponent thought that I had fired someone to get Morg induced, in fact I think he made an error, as I didn't do so, and was actually 10K away from hiring Morg in any case. I hope that wasn't the only reason for sacking the poor lineman!

Anyways, a nice overview of the game by my opponent. Was a close one. My opponent played pretty well and deserved his win. Luck cut both ways at times, and the difference was probably due to a few badly thought turns by me. My defense in particular let me down this match. Possibly the deciding factor in the end was my opponent winning the toss in over time, which lead me to playing for a draw at most, which itself was not to be.
