Up against Rijssiej's far stronger dwarves, and they've hired Zara, so it's looking like a NASTY game for us. We get two handicaps of smelling salts + GREATEST (on their +MA+MA blitzer and runner) which are pretty handy. We also get all 3/3 of our niggles to play, thankfully, and get to receive first.
We advance but the dwarven power is working for them as they score two KOs in the first two turns. We rush the ball into their half and when their MA7 tackle blitzer puts in 4 dice vs the ball carrier without result we're able to 1d blitz space and dodge through to the endzone!
1-0 AND the ref (slightly pale and sickly looking it has to be said) bans Zara for her stakes... result!!
We kick off and they quickly BH a zombie (regen fail) and KILL a block/tackle ghoul, plus score a KO. Down three players again already! They push down one side and on T7 it looks like it's definitely going to be a TD for them. Still we make a couple dodges with a wight to stand by the ball carrier, then make a nice 3+ dodge with our +AGI ghoul to 2d blitz their runner for a MNG (apo saves) and he then steals the ball. They make a 4+ dodge with a longbeard to get an assist then tackle him over for a KO, pick it up with their blitzer and make it 1-1.
We kick off for the 2nd half and on T2 they manage to 1d pow our STR7 mummy for a KO- curses! T3 and they score two more KOs while we have failed to injure a single dwarf even with a gang DP foul... not looking good now! They plow slowly forwards, making the most of their numbers advantage and not letting us have a sniff at the ball (mostly our whole team is knocked over each turn). T6 and we BH a longbeard, 1d push our mummy next to their ballcarrier and then -2db double knockdown the runner for a BH too!
Their ma7 blitzer recovers the ball and on T8 can quite easily run in the TD: 2-1!
We have one turn left to try and get it to extra time, and even get a quick snap to help us... but we make a silly mistake right before the final chainpush and are left with the ghoul 1 step short of being able to reach the endzone (though we still had a fairly long pass and catch to make in fairness!)
