“The hu-Maniax were honored to face-off against the famous Blood Sea Buccaneers, and even happier to come out with a victory. It was a tough battle that saw the death of a mighty warrior, Darryl 'Mantis' Hobbs, as well as some thrills and spills. The INT at the end of the 1st half kept us off the board and spoiled an otherwise great play that included a hand-off from the ogre to a rookie lineman followed by a beautiful pass. But we were able to dominate the field in the 2nd half, stalling out for 8 turns and returning some of the fouls we'd received earlier in the game (including the one that took out Mantis). Ours only netted KOs, mores the pity. The fans got the ref in T16, which didn't help us but allowed the Bucs to put one last boot in on the star of the game, Crusher Menafee. Didn't even break armor :) And the ref took the money and ejected the hapless lineman. Heh. Not the ending the Bucs were looking for, no doubt.

Thanks for the tough game, Painstate. Been hoping I'd get a chance to play you and I wasn't disappointed. Good luck with the Bucs and hope we can face off again.

The Lunatix of the Asylum will be holding a vigil for fallen warrior, Mantis Hobbs. Much brew will be consumed, of course. And probably some property wrecked and burned. Fear the Ax! Fear the Asylum!

Cornell 'Crusher' Menafee - (6 4) +MA. The undisputed star of the game, Crusher racked up a CAS, a TD and the MVP. Our training regiment for him included Guard and Mighty Blow, but he showed us his open throttle jets and we let him run with 'em (pun intended). We can definitely use another MA8 Blocker to replace Mantis, though we're already on the lookout for a new catcher.”
