“It's the 20th season of the Northern Wastes League and in the first game of the Bloody Spike division, the Abyssal Syndicate faced off against Dead Zeppelin [NWL]. Expectations for the underworlders were low... and everyone was disappointed in their play today.

The game started with the Syndicate receiving... so to speak. Ball handing problems and failures to escape the grasp of the undead caused a quick turnover and the undead quickly jumped on the ball. Additionally the professional quality blocks laid on the goblins (as well as laying them out!) severely limited the options for the Syndicate. The underworlders made several attempts to reclaim the ball, but were stymied by the relentless drumming of the dead upon their skulls. Dead Zeppelin scored easily as the half expired.

With the opening of the second half the Abyssal Syndicate began play with renewed determination, despite being down 3 players. They initially delivered several hard hits, taking down several zombies and a wight, but Zenkt failed to deliver a more "permanent" solution to the wight and even got caught in the process. As desperation began to sink in, the Syndicate brought as much pressure on the ball carrier as possible, yet it was not enough. The undead held firm, and continued breaking legs on their march forward scoring late in the second half. Left with four conscious, uninjured players on the field, the Syndicate once again flubbed their ball handling, almost allowing a third score by Dead Zeppelin.

Coach licker played a very solid game, taking advantage of every failure the Syndicate made. Hopefully by game two the Syndicate's ball handling and block avoidance skills will be up to snuff... Else this looks to be a long painful season for them.”
