“The Glitter and Doom Tour stumbled out the gates. Receiving, they tried to stay back and play a little catch to get the beat going... but Hoist That Rag fell flat on the crowd (strange, because it's normally a crowd pleaser). Hoist tried picking it up again... alas, t'was not to be. GWAR sensed the hiccup in the set and made their best attempt to melt our faces. More than half the team in KO and A Little Rain in the gutter... the Tour was down 0-1 and kicking to start after intermission.


But then we remembered that we actually play MUSIC and can get a house rocking as good as any band in the biz. We switched up the set and sent in DOOM to knock a member of GWAR onto the ball they just dropped and a fortunate bounce allowed Hoist That Rag to redeem itself as other songs created a nice reintroduction jam set that had the crowd stomping their feet before they knew they were listening to the same song.

... and THAT is where Tom Waits rocks, folks. All your songs sound the same - while we can play all OUR songs differently so you're not even aware that you're listening to the same song as before.

End up the set with a little ballad of Lucky Day (aptly placed in the set to induce an emotional response from Nuffle that granted us the equivalent of TWO encore turns)... and Lucky Day truly was the cap to the evening.
