In a surprising deja vu from their first match, the Soilers won the kickoff and chose to kick. The Batrachians were lined up for a quick push up the right sideline but the kick came to rest in their endzone so their plans for a 2T TD were hosed. Fortunately the Soilers were set up too deep to really capitalize and after Pall 'Freddy' Kruger retrieved the ball he advanced to a short pass to Anquan Boundin who scored on T3.

Soilers received the ensuing kickoff in a freak snow storm and set up a deep cage in the middle of the Slann backfield. The toads went to work leaping into the cage and Teejay flattened ball carrier Scare'Ray Chilledless but a fortunate bounce put the ball into Dashman's hands and he scored the following turn.

The two turn score left plenty of time for the Batrachians however and as their hitting started to take its toll (two KOs and a BH on T4 and another BH on T5) the Elves couldn't prevent a second score by Anquan before the half despite the second kick ALSO landing in the Batrachian endzone. Clearly the bad weather was affecting Whoseton's play as they just couldn't pull off the defensive plays they had become famous for in the first half of the season.

Second half started with the Soilers only fielding 7 vs a full Slann squad as clearly their KO players preferred the nice warm safety of the bench rather than the cold brutal field. The Soilers setup deep in their own half and Bubba McPow KO'd the Slann Krox. But that left the Batrachians free to pick a target for Trell 'Get Some' Suggs, and sure enough, niggler Kris Dashman was exposed on the right flank. The Slann surrounded him and after Trell's TRIPLE POW, there was just no questioning that Dashman was gonna be getting carted off. Didn't even require the Piling On maneuver Trell's become so well known for.

The desperate Soilers made a break for the Slann endzone from midfield, with ball carrier War'In Moon blitzing an opening and the other players at midfield forming a screen. A critical GFI on the ice by McPow which would have potentially pinned two of the three deep defenders failed spectacularly however, the tree actually managing to KO himself as he smashed to the frozen ground. That left War'In exposed and the Slann swooped in. With two assists Hushyomutha flattened Moon (the Pows were flowing freely for the Slann hitters), BHing him on his way to the ball.

A clearly shaken Scare'Ray immediately attempted to start a play, but he had forgotten Trell's Diving Tackle and their turn ended prematurely. With nothing to stop them, the Slann advanced up the field and fed Kruger the ball for an easy score...but not before Scare'Ray tried one more desparate attempt to stop him, BHing himself on a failed leap.

With just a few turns left, few players willing or able to take the pitch (even the Tree refused to get back out there!) and facing a Perfect Defense, the Whosetonites were incapable of preventing a second score by Pall 'Freddy' Kruger, who's stellar play has netted him 18 spps in the two games since he's taken over for G'ray 'The Breaker' G'roois.

Coach Harbog after the game:

"Well, there were some of you out there that thought perhaps our teams win over the Soilers in the first half was a fluke. An aberration. A Soiler team playing well below their capability. Well, we can put that to rest now. These toads came out fired up, and really brought the pain. We were firing on all cylinders and frankly, those elves didn't know what hit them."

"Coach, coach, what are your thoughts on your upcoming match vs. the League leading Mutants?"

"Well, no offense to the other teams out there, but I think you'll be seeing a preview of this years Superior Bowl. We're playing well and hitting our stride at just the right time. Those rats have never lost...but they've never played the Batrachians either! This team takes a back seat to no one! We'll see who's sitting on top of the Conference and in the top seed in the playoffs after next weeks match."
