“This game was played amidst a full blizzard in front of a packed 24,000 strong crowd. The girls wore black bands emblazoned with the word 'idiot' to commemorate the death of their fourth blitzer in the début game.

The Elves elected to receive and collected the ball but got stuck against a formidable Golden Girls defence on one side. However, the Elves used their exceptional speed to eventually break free and get the score.

On the return drive, the girls quickly caged and pushed down their left flank. Despite great effort on their part - including a brutal second career casualty from Doro - the Elves were able to do enough to prevent the equaliser and a final last ditch scoring attempt failed after a trip in the snow.

In the second half the girls received a very deep kick but did more than enough to score the equalising touchdown.

The Elves battled hard in the dying stages of the game to secure a game winning score but were locked down well by the Girls. The game finished 1-1 and resulted in a deserved 70k in winnings for each team.
