#5 Stinkweed – Gouged Eye (MNG)
#7 Rose Constantine – Serious Concussion (-AV)
#17 Sean Clearfire – Dead (RIP)
Well, this was an instructive match in the art of never giving up, no matter how bleak things may look.

The Skintakers were on their game in the first half, taking skin, while the elves couldn't seem to get anything to work, failed dodges led to players badly hurt, even a leap at the ball resulted in Owen getting hurt, but the staff decided to call on the apo so he could come back for the 2nd half, figuring without him there was little chance of a victory.

The Skintakers proceeded to grind their way down the field, and while Juniper was able to get a 1d blitz and pop the ball out, there were only 4 elves on the pitch, and a beastman caught the loose ball anyway.

The one turn attempt saw a blitz take out another line elf, and the attempted push yielded a POW, which while normally a good roll, wasn't what the elves were looking for. The half ended with the elves down to 6 players and losing 1-0.

The 2nd half started out with a failed surf, but 4 elfs were able to screen Tobias Moon along the sideline, and on turn 2 he was able to blitz his way into the end zone. This though left 7 turns for the Skintakers to grind the winning TD, facing the 6 elfs still standing.

Indeed it appeared as though their steady advance would result in a late winning score, yet the elfs persisted. Owen surfed a beastman, while the other 5 tried to stay in front of the cage and generally force some kind of error. Eventually their prayers were answered. Not due to a coaching error, indeed coach Kelnor coached an admirable game. No, it came down to a quad skull blocking failure, leaving Owen and his compatriots an available 2d leap blitz into a not quite closed cage. Of course, this time, the elfs were totally elfy. Owen lept in, knocked the ball out, and even scooped it up on the bounce, dodged out of the cage, and his team mates constructed a hasty screen for him on turn 5. The rest of the game simply had Owen and the loose screen move down and across the field to stall out for a turn 8 score.

Well played coach Kelnor, you had it rolling in the 1st half, but when elfs get hot dice, it seems they can do those amazingly annoying things.

And to anyone who watches the replay, imagine yourself on the elf side, you're down players, you can't make a roll to save your life, and you're thinking about just turtleing in a corner so no one else gets killed. Don't do it! You never know when the dice will turn, and you have to stay in position to try and take advantage if it happens.
