#8 Vim "88" Glimmerstone – Dead (RIP)
I don't even know where to begin with this match. I guess the only place to begin is at the beginning.

Did you ever have a moment when you thought that the Black Box was having a laugh at your expense? The moment I activated Aint' No Fairy Tale I had these feelings that I had just made a mistake, and 37 seconds later, once BB announced that Elshésira would be my opponent, all of those feelings were confirmed.

Wood Elves. Of all of the opponents my dwarf team could draw, I get wood elves.

The game started out pretty well: nice weather, I received the kick-off, even got the ball into the hands of one of my blitzers, and opened up a hole I would attempt to exploit the next round. It was from this point that the game fell apart.

A spectacular leaping blitz by Enclair took the ball out of the dwarf's possession, and two turns later, Enclair was celebrating in the endzone. Don't get me wrong, while Enclair was making his way to the endzone nearly unmolested, Thornbeard Orc-Breaker was busy leveling some of those pesky elves in the backfield; unfortunately, the ball way all the way up-field, with four (4) elven linemen standing in the way. Anyone who says that elves are not tough, I invite you to watch the replay of the Elshésira's third turn, so you can witness the beatdown those four linemen placed upon this dwarven team. What you will witness is a particularly vicious foul thrown by Findurel resulting in the death of that budding star Vim
"88" Glimmerstone
. Having used my apothecary the turn before to foolishly prevent someone from being knocked out, I had no choice but to watch as they carried the broken remains of Vim off of the pitch.

Well, only one thing for us dwarfs to do, and that's tighten our laces and go back out there and win this one for Vim. I mean, it can't be all that bad: we had an equal number of players at 10 apiece, and we dwarfs are that much tougher, and now we were angry. The highlights of those next three turns would be a simple catch fail by one of my blitzers, an elven injury suffered by Alienathiel while GFI, and another easy touchdown for those elves. Turn 6 of the first half, another kick-off to me, and it begins to snow. A fumbled pick up and a dwarf-elf melee would end the half.

The second half we kicked-off to the elves, and in two turns Eclair was in the endzone, again. Kick-off to me, and the elves roll "Perfect D"; wasn't so perfect when linemen Dakak Grimiron extracted some dwarfish vengeance upon Findurel, crushing the elf with a devastating block, from which Findurel would never get up. From there, it even looked like the dwarves might score, after a couple of blocks knocked the pesky Eclair out of the match, and we had favorable field position. But then, true to form, the blitzer holding the ball attempted to GFI, in the snow. Needles to say, the elves recovered the ball, and though a successful dodge roll was made in an attempt to get to the ball carrier, a rush-pass-rush-hand off play, and the ball was back in the endzone.

We cracked a few more elves, but there was nothing that could be done to recover the physical or emotional wound of being beaten so severely. I can complain about having bad luck with my rolls the entire match, and any one who watches the replay would witness and confirm this accusation. But, more so, simon_MLF just out played us, the entire time. I tip my beard to you, Simon, and promise you that next time we meet on the pitch things will end differently.
