A rather weak ending to the SMACK tournament for the Fur Kings as in general it was the dice of the vampires that decided how play went, whilst the zombie hordes muddled around rather ineffectively.

After an early score, a thrall sent off in the process, the vampires did what they did best, and stole the ball. Then a snaked dodge seriously injured the vampire with the ball, and handed Red Blood the equalizer. 1-1 at half time.

In the 2nd half, the mission to hunt thralls continued. 2 snaked turns in a row seemed to have handed me the match on a platter, but then - as vampires do - they came back in spectacular style. Every blitz on an ag3 was passing armour, including a casualty of the ghoul and both wights - only 1 of which regenerated.

Needing divine intervention to score, Fur King Mean grabbed the ball - although got nowhere with it as gaze cut open his cover and he was promptly knocked over.

A vampire failed blood lust at last and the passing move failed and it was overtime.

With 11 undead lining up against just 4 vampires and 2 thralls, I switched off. With most players stood in their kick off positions, a blockless zombie hit bothdowns and rerolled worse, presenting the opening for the winner. Still, a few moves were needed after a surprisingly good turn managed to get 3 players on the ball carrier, but the true match winner turned up once more for CroixFer - gaze.

I do believe that there wasn't a single failed gaze all game (the few that did fail succeeded on pro rerolls). That was, in the end, the difference.”
