What a stupid game Blood Bowl is. Lining up for turn 8 at 1-0 down before half time, the Swans looked dead and buried with only five players on the pitch and "The Shoes" not even breaking a sweat. The players' heads had dropped (or fallen off), there was no hope. Even coach Nickpcr had started thinking about what he was going to have for dinner instead of what to do next.

But then, from row Z of an especially sparse crowd, Jose Canas - retired by the Swans last match after getting his head caved in by an ogre - decided that even if his playing days were over, there was still something he could do to help his old team mates in their hour of need. He picked up the sharpest, most aerodynamic rock he could find and launched it at the human line. The only player on the pitch who didn't see the rock coming was ALHADHUR... it pierced his helmet an severed his head clean off. The crowd fell silent. The Swans were still down, but the death of the blitzer changed the mood of the game completely.

Swansleaf were a different team in the second half. Still with only half a dozen players on the pitch, they showed their eagerness with a quick snap that allowed Leon Britton to send Michu on his way down the wings for a quick TD early on.

They may have only had six players on the pitch but they were Swanleaf's most important players. Spurred on by the cheering crowd and the extra reroll it afforded them, Michu first won a turnover by standing up to a 2D blitz from CISSOKHO, before leaping over TOURE to put pressure on the ball. As he did so, DJILOBODJI stand to stare in amazement at the pure agility on display and VORM took his chance to crush the human under his mighty fist, leaving a second valuable blitzer in a coffin.

The violence was all too much for Shoes thrower ZELAZNY, who fumbled his pickup. Michu saw his chance, leapt between two Shoes players, blitzed ZELAZNY out of the way with help from fellow War Dancer Bony and then went for it for a second TD in 3 Swansleaf turns.

The crowd were totally on Swansleaf's side now, and raised their spirits even more with more re-roll worthy support. The Shoes tried to take their time with the ball in their drive but the two Wardancers managed to put enough pressure on their opponents to force them to score earlier than would have liked, leaving The Swans with two turns to get a winner. Despite a human fan knocking out Ashley Williams with a rock of his own, Britton again supplied the pass for Michu to dodge and blitz his way down the pitch once again to run in the winner with only seconds to spare - his second hat-trick in as many games!

So in the end, Swansleaf won the game and avoided any serious injuries, neither of which looked likely at the end of the first half. NUFFLE has funny ways. A bizarre game and totally undeserved result against a really funny opponent.
