“OBBA MLS preseason friendly #2

A game that started out in the pouring rain, then turned to Very Sunny for the 2nd half. My inexperience as an elf coach showed in the 1st half as I sent my catchers downfield only to be enveloped in a scrum. But Glenn Beck was there to save the day, as he would on several occasions this match, and I managed to pull out a score on T3. Did what I could to prevent the equalizer with so much time left, but the trip wire we rigged over the goal line saved us when Hilary Clints failed to see it in time.

2nd half started with 6 vs. 11. That quickly turned into 5 vs. 11. The sun messed with the orcs passing game and Josh recovered the ball and didn't fumble it in the scrum. Glenn Beck switched teams for a turn, making it 6 vs. 10 and the LA lads were off to the races. Now up 2-0, we settled into a cushion defense with a few more KOs back (8 players I think). The Wash. Scum were getting antsy and decided to go for broke, sending Hilary into the endzone for another try at a score and they nailed it! 6 Pass, 5 Catch, TD, Waaaaaashington! \o/ Even the elves were impressed. Of course, this also got them more players back and the ball. The kickoff gave them another reroll and they made the most of it. Pulling off their well-known (and well-practiced) right wing sweep, a pass/hand-off combo put the ball in Robbie Keane's very capable hands. Some well executed orc blocking opened up a last-ditch 1-die orc blitz but with no rerolls it resulted in a push. Landon blitzed Robbie free, and the rest of the team surrounded him for protection. Josh threw one last block at his counterpart and nearly botched it but for a probability mage stepping in to change the result. Orcs started was supposed to be a series of retaliation blocks but were cut short by an early score and Keane took it home as the whistle blew.

Both teams were happy for a mostly clean match, though the Galaxy will be mentioning Johny Roberts to the refs. Watch that Black Orc, he's dirty! And an honorable mention goes to the un-named Merc goblin who very nearly landed on Donovan when Glenn Beck heaved him into the scrum. He took out Beckham instead. I think Beck was trying to take him out because their name's sound similar. Well, similar to a troll I suppose. Thanks for a fun match, Gerth.
