The Bommaz approached this game with some trepidation after the coach mentioned that their opponents were called the "Bringers of the Apocalypse". With a number of higher strength players, these Rotters were going to be a tough cookie to crumble...

Preparing to receive the kickoff, the Bommaz couldn't help but notice all the cameras trained on them along the sidelines. It turned out that a local cabelvision network was running a feature on them as the underdogs in this game. This meant that the Bommaz could look forward to a rather large cheque after this game. (110,000gp in the end! Woohoo!)

Receiving the ball, the Orcs pushed hard on the Rotter's right flank, with Ripper Greenspleen breaking through early into the Nurgle backfield and charging into the endzone. Following up with the ball, thrower Longbomma produced a stunning throw right into the waiting arms of Ripper, who scored the opening touchdown with ease in turn three.

With the Bringers receiving the next kickoff, the Bommaz had a tough time stopping the cage of Rotters and Beastmen that slowly made their way towards the endzone over the next few turns. With their mind clearly on doing some damage rather than scoring, it was lucky for the Bringers that Beastman Gorgi II actually scored on the stroke of halftime, running the ball away from the pack of defenders and into the endzone.

The second half saw a tough start for the Bommaz. Even with some valiant attempts to stop him, the sheer pace of Beastman Duenas allowed him to take the lead for the Bringers in turn four, charging down the sidelines out of reach of the Orcs. With time running out, the Bommaz drew on one of their secret plans to even the score once more.... "get da ball and run". Swiftly getting the ball to Grimmjaw Woundopener, the Bommaz attempted to charge down the Rotter's flank in an almost mirrored version of the Bringer's previous touchdown. Attempts by a few defenders to stop the advance came to nothing, as Grimmjaw ran the ball into the endzone to score.

The final turns saw another Rotter advance, this time putting two "catchers" in range of scoring in their penultimate move. With only one Bommaz player able to get close to each attacker, this was going to be close. A thrown ball over the head of Gargant Bloodgrunt obviously wasn't seen by Beastman Moodswing II, as the lumbering figure of the Black Orc blocked his view of the incoming pass. With the ball bouncing free on the ground, but no Bommaz in range to score, the final whistle marked the end to a close game.

Surprisingly (and thankfully) there were no serious injuries in this game, even though the "Bringers" had a number of +ST players which were hard to counter. A lot of typically BB-type stuff happening to both players made this an enjoyable game. A great opponent who was fun to play and, like me, enjoys playing in the spirit of the game. I wish Muyske all the best on his future games. Thanks.
