Helmut Wulf and the Mighty Zug joined the Railroaders for the tie, and the owners of Crewe are also believed to have bribed the referee a little. Finally in preparation to their first game they hired a second medic as they feared the worse form this game.

With the score 1-0 down at Halftime (after receiving) and both Zug and Wulf injured, the Crewe boss Valen was fearing an annihilation, but with some favourable flops from his players instead of taking the brunt of a smack the team finished unscathed and fit to fight another day.
