#3 Ratkind – Dead (RIP)
OWCC Albion Conference VII - Round 3

With top-of-the-table Expatriates having only 1 reserve, the strategy was to reduce their numbers and then swarm. That didn't happen. One sided AV/injury rolls and poor strategy meant the 1st half was a disaster and - 3 players down, Siemon badly hurt just a few turns in having done nothing - a dropped catch turned over play. Then the dark elf snaked the 2nd go for it on the blitz, having made a couple of dodges first, and the lizards were in control. The ogre spent most of the half boneheaded. With him missing and Siemon out for most of the half, it was an easy counter score.

2nd half the offensive drive was well marshalled. I had to fight to just get knockdowns, let alone do damage. All my rerolls went on rerolled blocks in order to find a pow. On the flip side, Smeat encountered similar troubles but he showed more patience and dealt with it better. Ratkind died, luckily for us. Nobody liked him. The dark elf doesn't like much anybody and showed as much by refusing to hand over the ball for a consolation touchdown.

Victory was deserved. I played poorly. Smeat played well.

Adendum

The 1st half was marred by a controversial moment. Smeat always plays slow - always. 4 minutes a turn almost every turn. He plays so slowly that I have to do another task in order to make the game bearable. As such, I have no patience for him going over the clock and timed out at the first opportunity. I was not reading the chat - just glancing back at the clock as I did something else. However, at the time he was suffering lag so this was unfair.

Nuffle did balance it out and there was just a few skinks left to move, but he was rightly upset. Anybody else I'd give a warning to but, having warned him in every previous encounter, it's no longer a courteousy I will extend to Smeat. However, I was wrong in this instance. I said sorry. I will leave it at that.

After Coach Smeat announced twice in an early turn that the game was lagging badly, Chainsaw timed out anyway. But fortunately, he was too busy trying to injure players to bother with anything like position or tactics, so lost badly despite his desperation tactics.

Weak cheaters and poor coaching get what they deserve. Praise Nuffle!
