Normally, I try to spread out my scores as much as possible, but this game FTL simply had to take the team onto his diminutive shoulders and carry them across the goalline for the win. After stalling his own advancement for the last 5 or 6 games, refusing to take the td's that are his due and instead giving them to his teammates, FTL decided this was going to be his game. And boy, was it!

An opening kickoff blitz let FTL catch the ball behind enemy lines and haul it in for a very quick 1-0 lead. The orcs then proceeded to cage-run the ball the other way, ko'ing rats left and right. But I had one turn left in the half to try to score, and after my rat ogre cleared a path it was clear-sailing for the endzone for FTL! Score 2-1 at the half.

Receive the 2nd half kickoff, FTL's sitting on the sidelines resting and allowing some of the rookies to try their hand at the pitch. It almost turned into a disaster--by the time the orcs had intercepted the ball (the orc needed a 6, he got a 6) and run it back the other way, they'd ko'd or injured all but a couple rats. I started the game with 16 able bodies, and now I only had 5!

But the opposing coach made a tactical blunder in scoring with two turns remaining, hoping probably for a blitz he could turn into a win for his side instead of an assured tie. His chosen defense against my 1-turner took away the sidelines quite effectively, and his middle-men were too far away for an easy rat ogre blitz. But where the outsides are strong, the insides must be soft. My rat ogre stunned the black orc on the los, freeing up his companions to roam. My guarding storm vermin took position to support; a blitzing linerat cleared the path down the center of the pitch; all I need now is the ball. Thrower picks up the ball and tosses it to a GR stationed in the backfield for just this purpose; he hands off to FTL; and now it's off to the races once more! No rr's, but he didn't need any, he could smell paydirt. Touchdown! Score 3-2, orcs have two turns of their own to tie things up again.

But it wasn't to be; the weather turned bitterly cold and snowy, rendering the orc gfi'ing useless, and with their slow speed they had no hope of reaching the endzone. The win was preserved, FTL gains his 5th skill and still no aging, life is good. Except for the loss of ff, this turned into a good first 200+ TR game for our rats. It wasn't impossible, it was...

Unbelievable!
