“In what seemed a ridiculous turn, their team with the star treeman was offered an inducement, in a tourney no less. Zara jumped at the chance to stab some AV 6. Not that stabbing worked out that well for her, resorting to brute force later in the game served much better.

So we received in the rain, giving us at least some chance, and the fans helped by putting their smaller blodger Kugelis off for the match with a well-placed rock, with Leif putting Vedaras strait out too. Auspicious! Post-Trauma tried carrying the ball up, but their giant Azuolos simply broke through and put him out of the game too. Tactics would have to be adjusted sharply to account for that brute.

Clive knocked him down, but up he got pressuring the ball again, and soon enough catching it as we tried to bounce it free. Then if he didn't stop for a feed! Talk of interrupting everyone's plans. We surrounded him with the wee lads, little other option available with the big timber tied up, though Clive arrived to help clear the riff-raff soon enough. Halflings nearby were flying from the field from both teams, but Frozen Shoulder managed to pull down the giant blodger, well done that lad.

Of course, with the ball free and so few lads left to get it, Somany Bits fell over trying to cover, Miffing Deef only hurt himself on the blitz, and they scored as easy as that. We had them down to 8 though, so the quick reply was on.

Miffing Deef got the pickup, handed it off to Cracked Ribs, who landed the throw and seriously went for it to score before the half. Thinking it unfair, the refs gave them a bash at us, so we kicked deep and blitzed it trying for another, but Wrecked Elbow couldn't make the landing, a short throw regardless.

Back up to 9v11 for the second half, and their ball, 9v9 moments later, don't I know that feeling well. Frozen Shoulder flew over to press the ball, tied up their diving tackle specialist at least, and if both their trees didn't start casually feeding together, mid pitch. Stunned Trout broke his collar bone trying to clear away from them, instantly sent to permanent kitchen work.

Their carrier hung tight to the trees, so our timber worked away to clear their little ones and got lads on him, forcing the break down field. Clive stumbled on the blitz, this coach too busy screaming at him to not feed yet! Cracked Ribs played stabbing games with Zara, neatly tying her up. Their cover fell over itself and our lads got the ball to Cracked, well done.

Of course, Zara freed it, little ones scattering it clear, and she dodged away and scored before time. 1-2 it was. Only the ref took pity on us this time!

But the weather cleared, and who was it again? Cricked Neck on the pickup, handoff to Cracked Ribs! Landed right next to Zara, sound as you like, gave her a rude gesture, and away for the score! Overtime! Overtime! Overtime! The tension, such a big match, nuffle clearly wanting it to last.


Seeing the unfairness of two late equalisers, the ref gave them the ball. 7v7 after two more of mine strait off the field. Clive chucked Frozen Shoulder into work, but he sconed their Azoulas! What luck, we through the middle and pressed them, forcing them down the south wing. Leif knocked over Zara, letting lads onto the ball, and if they didn't knock themselves out trying to clear! Before you can whistle we've five lads on the ball, Cricked Neck taking it in hand, and them with just one upstanding and their timber too distant.

It was over, we held our guns and scored in comfort. 3-2 overtime. Clive got four Casualties, and Cracked Ribs MVP for landing the two fliers! Tremendous effort all around. Nuffle be praised, it's only a shame we had to buy back all of those casualties, but it's just more stock for the next sale.”
