There is a phrase in American Football:

"On any given Sunday..."
This phrase and the meaning behind it holds true for Blood Bowl as well.

We won the coin toss and elected to kick, taking to the field with Helmut and his chainsaw in tow, hoping to inflict some damage on the squad of orcs. The 32,000 fans in attendance immediately decided to riot, causing a slight delay in the match. The ocrs responded by slowly advancing the ball forward, exhibiting excellent positioning, as they made sure the Amazons could never get a clear shot at the orc holding the ball, except for a 1d block during the 6th turn which resulted in a Both Down, rerolled into a skull. There was no way of stopping the touchdown for the first half. Amazon armor was holding out, as of the 5 Amazons sitting in the dugout, only one was injured badly enough to not return to the match. The orc fans were so excited by the touchdown that they invaded the pitch, taking down two of our players to close out the first half.

We set up to receive the ball, playing 10-on-11, and were again greeted by another riot from the fans. Once that fans were back in there seats the match resumed, as we attempted to find a way to break through the wall of green in front of us. By the 3rd turn we were in danger of losing possession of the ball, and by the 4th turn we were down to 7 players on field, and trapped against the sideline. Our only choice was to attempt an elfy break out play, taking the ball and dodging through the orc defenders, attempting to put enough distance between us and them. To everyone's surprise, it worked. No, really, watch the replay; it was some sort of miracle. The orcs gave chase, but with a quick blitz we entered the endzone tying the match at 1-all.

The orcs came back, threatening a thrown goblin touchdown, but that was simply a feign, as they attempted to pass the ball to an open blitzer at the last moment. The pass fell short, bounced out of a black orc's hands, and was caught by a linewoman to bring us into overtime.

Back to 10-on-11, we received the kick-off in OT, decided that it was time to skip the fineness, and to punch those orcs right in the face. We fought up to midfield, and foolishly decided to risk going along the sideline. But with their blitzers tied up at midfield by two linewomen there was no one who could get in the way as Vicki rushed in the winning touchdown.

A surprising upset against a frightening looking team, and a very capable coach at the helm. I had never faced coach BattleLore before, but his coach record and accomplishments stand for themselves. He did an amazing job at keeping us away from where ever we wanted or needed to be. Had the armor rolls not held up for these ladies we would be singing a very different song. Well played. I look forward to a rematch.
