#3 Bubba Bo Bob – Damaged Back (NI)
#7 FredRock – Fractured Leg (MNG)
FUMBBL Cup XIV round 1

1st game back for Larry Long Legs, after an 11 year retirement...his last game was Dec 3, 2004 when he lost a strength and was retired just a few SPP's from legend status--I immediately regretted the retirement, and was glad when the Borak server donation drive gave me a chance to undo it.

1st half started badly, as their Piling on Mino Stunned, injured and Injured 3 players in the 1st three turns, then they scored on their turn 4 (when the mino did not pile on). Getting a bribe on the 1st KO, allowed me to keep Dear John on the field for the return drive, which helped a bit. My Drive ended up taking a few players off the pitch, including one on a foul by Dear John on turn 7. Larry scores his 1st SPP's in almost 11 years to tie up the game on turn 8.

2nd half started with the dwarves up 10 players to 8, and the numbers advantage allowed me to play the stall game, eventually scoring on my turn 8 with Larry again (so get gets 2 TD's on his 1st game back!). The goblin had gotten caught on a foul earlier, so they couldn't pull off a OtS with only 5ish players on the pitch to my 9 without help of a riot, which did not happen.

Flash gets 2 completions and picks up pass to complement Larry's Catch (why, 11 years ago I picked catch on him, I'm not sure, but hey, let's go with it)

on to round 2...either skaven (880ish TV right now) or orcs (1800ish)..so probably orc..but skaven with almost 800 in inducements could pull it off if their GR's stay on the pitch most of the game!

#13 Kangy, the converted – Broken Neck (-AG)
Game 1

The first half began in the sun and with Pact of Fire receiving. It was a difficult choice, made so that the Deathroller would be out by the end of the first half, even though the sun might hinder Pact of Fire's passing game.

Coming into the match, team captain Vakosen remarked continued frustration that deathrollers were still legal in the game, and particularly worried about making sure that all 3 of his big guys stayed on the pitch and upright. These plans were neutralized by the kickoff result of get the ref, which meant that the deathroller would have two drives on the field.

The initial defence allowed Durrdurr, the clawed Ogre, a shot at neutralizing the deathroller, a move that was only partially successful. Eduardo, seeing an opportunity to foul, did so, hoping that a bribe would help the ref overlook his actions, but the ref pocketed the money and sent him off!

As Thrombil formed a cage and moved fowards to the North, Durdurr and Kangy unsuccessfully tried to down the deathroller, while Karsachen moved to the backfield.

As the dwarfs began to push the cage towards the sidelines, and Thrombil had his heels to the sideline, Karsachen found himself in the endzone, and a breakthrough in the dwarf line allowed for the thrower to make a successful pass, and score. Postmatch, the decision to score, rather than pull back into the protection of the big guys, was regretted.

The dethroller bribe was successful, and so Pact of Fire deployed ready to throw Quiggle to grab the ball and make a hit if the opportunity arose. The dwarves cage proved to be nigh-inpenetrable, but when the runner was about to make a final dash to the endzone, a leapping Tz'rd manage to briefly loose the ball, but was shortly after crushed by a dethroller, and the Techies scored.

At the 2nd half, the Pact found themselves down to 7 men, and although a few big guys managed to reach the ball-carrier, they were easily beaten back, and the Techies scored again and brought the game to a close.
