#11 Balmung Ornolf – Fractured Arm (MNG)
The Order of the Snow King 1-0 Morkfjord Mermaids

The Order's prize for clinching the Frozen Sea Conference was a semi-final match against last year's NSL overall champion and reigning unbeaten champion of the Kraken Sea Conference, the Morkfjord Mermaids.

The orcs brought a powerful team, 300TV larger than The Order with lots of +stats and mighty blow. The Order knew they would need to be lucky not to get blown off the pitch.

The first half began as an "in the trenches" brawl until the star troll ko'd himself, never to return. The rest of the orcs tried to bring the bash, but their mighty blow wasn't so mighty and while they focused on hitting things The Order moved upfield for the opening score.

Some terrible ko rolls left the orcs a man down after half-time, but they quickly put that to rights. After that they began to slowly grind their way towards the endzone, moving side to side. They lost one or two players as they went, but removed one or two hobgobs at the same time. The Order appeared to be in a good position to run out the clock when one of the hobgobs ko'd himself on a dodge leaving a big hole through which the Mermaids eagerly danced. Or flapped. Or whatever it is that Mermaids do. All the pressure fell on The Order's hired magician to stop the drive and although he missed most of his targets he did well enough to expose the ball to a sack. The Mermaids went for one last heroic play, complete with dodges into and out of tacklezones, a one die blitz, a pick-up in multiple tacklezones and so on. Just as it appeared that it would succeed Tyrkir Hrut, all 3'6" of him, reached one of his stubby arms into the sky and snatched the ball, and the match, away from the fishy ones.

A tense battle in which the Mermaids got the worst of almost every roll they made and still came within an 8+ of winning. Credit to Jarl Burnalot for an amazing end to another stellar season. They'll be back in the title hunt next year for sure.

Meanwhile The Order prepares for whomever comes out of the second semi-final between the dwarven Clan and the elven Oilers
