“A fairly relaxed game - certainly lacking in all that unhealthy tension and excitement, anyway, as I was never under any illusions about the possibility of my scoring or mounting an effective defence. Had the random short ones had longer legs this would probably have gone 5 or 6-0. There is a certain quiet pleasure to be gained from gleaning a few SPPs in the first turn after kick-off by passing the ball deep in your own half, in that brief interlude before the opposition thunder down the pitch, fiercely intent on slaughtering all of your players... ”
