I was certainly worried about this one, especially as I'd just been battered the day before by Stonetroll. I had the better team on paper, but we very rarely play on paper, and CR169 v CR158 made me concerned about my relative lack of skill. "Trust in your team, they can do it!" came the voice. A Wiz and a Merc Lino meant that I couldn't group too closely together, and the game started with 2 squads of 12. I lost the toss, and was given the ball. "Happy days" I thought! A high kick helped to recover the ball safely and put it deep into the backfield. Now, time to attack! My Tree showed its power with the 1st block of the game, SI'ing a rookie lino :) Stoney stuck his 2 guards on the star WD, and MB'd him, but only stunned, phew! A last second failed dodge KO'd one of his lino's. I gave him a gap in T2 to get a 2d on my feeble and lightly armoured catcher, and the WD made sure that "Sprinting Home" would MNG :( and the ball was loose, but to balance things up, the ref sent off a Guard/DP-bonus!! Revenge was quick on his WD, "Myy" sending her to the KO box. A lino was KO'd by
"Sango", giving a chance for AG5 Thrower "Miu" to go down in history, but unfortunately he failed his 4+ dodge twice, was BH'd, and had to be apo'd. 9v6 at this point and it didn't look good for the Manga Girls. Time to inflict the pain, "Myy" sent the MB/Tackler off BH, and a 1d block on his turn KO'd his own player with a single skull (9v4) Time for a foul or 2, remembering the Wiz was still about. "Amelia"(WD) and "Excel" got KO'd, with the ref looking the other way! Just had to survive the OTTD now to make it a great half. "Asuka", the MA10 ST3 catcher strode towards the EZ, blocked the rookie lino with a 1D - Both Down - RR - Skull. End of half Born to Live Forever 1-0 Violent Manga Girls and 11-7 playerswise. A Perfect Defense made it sooo much easier for Forever, and nigh on impossible for the Mange Girls. "Southwards is Downwards" continued his 1st turn injury spree from the 1st half by cracking the skull of a loner. With 3 players standing, all the Gils could do was to bring in the wizard, lightning bolting "Foreveranevra", but no armour break came. A great throw by "Miu" and RR'd catch by the leaping "Lina Inverse" secured the TD. Score 1-1, but players 11-7. KO result of a blitz gave Stonetroll some hope, with "Amelia" BH-ing "Never Ending", but with Myy KO-ing Asuka and a cage formed around "Sails Through the Wind" it was just a matter of time until he ran out of players, with "Amelia" and "Miu" getting surfed into the reserves, and "Ieva" neck being broken by the crowd, game over! Thanks for the game Stonetroll, couldn't let you get another XFL under your belt!
