“In a rematch of a preseason NWFL-noob friendly, the Rushing Machine again got the upper hand, 3-1. The Machine had control for most of the game, but as always in blood bowl, the game swung on a couple of key moments that could have thrown the game the other way.
The Knicks got off to a good start, advancing the ball and stunning several Machine players. But Rod Langway made an incredible pick off of a Dribblesnot bomb, and threw it at the ball carrier. It only took out 1 of 4 possible players, but it protected a grouping of 4 humans and was perhaps a sign of things to come. The Knicks ended the next three turns with failed 3+ rolls (w/ skill re-rolls). On turn 4, Backstrom pounced on a ball knocked loose by Ovechkin, and completed his first of 3 passes to Holtby, who went in for the only score of the first half.
A kickoff blitz gave some life to the Knicks in the second half, but Backstrom switched fields to Holtby allowing the humans to control and protect the ball. With the numerical advantage, the humans marched down the field, and Holtby handed off to Williams for another 4th turn score. However, the Knicks converted a 1-turn TD and the game was far from over. The humans grew careless, and the Hobgoblins swarmed a contingent of humans surrounding a loose ball. Justin Williams had to save the day with a 1d push back to free up the ball. Holtby then swooped in, scooped up the ball took it up field and gave to Ovechkin, who had nothing but daylight in front of him.
Both these young teams face their more established division bretheren next week in games that could be rude awakenings. Let's hope they beat up on each other this week to soften them up a little bit.”
