“Last match in the first half of the season, and we are on the road against the Marauders. A team With a lot of good players, but one who hasn't been able to get the most out of their players so far. Amazingly, this tiny town has two DLE-teams! Who would have thought... We strongly suspect that some of the large number of Crimson-fans in the stadium are really Bruisers-fans who long to see their rivals brought low, but they are making a lot of noise and we do not want to look a gift horse in the mouth...

Marauders start With the ball, and Erwin makes a deep kick. Marauders play cautiously, holding back their catchers and fielding their back-up quarterback Brad Johnson. Erhardt is KO'd immediately, but aggressive Cascade players set out to demolish the Marauder line. Turbin creates the first cas of the day when he blitzes Brad Smelley, breaking his jaw while Althoff stuns star Marauder blitzer Calvin Pryor and Friedrich KO's Simeon Rice. The Marauders keep the ball back and sends forth catcher Terence Brooks into a scoring position, while Ward fails his dodge away from Erwin and is KO'd. Althoff gives the Cascade a 10-7 three player advantage when he sends Star Blitzer Kyle Wilber off with an elegant kick in the b***s. When another catcher, Derrick Brooks, also KO's himself while dodging away from Markelle Martin, the Marauders becomes desperate. With half the half left, they put Terrence Brooks on the goal line, and Brad comes out of the backfield and tries a long pass from just behind the midfield. He fumbles, and Martin, Althoff and Krukenberg Closes in on him while Hoffman and Scheidel surfs Brooks. Luckily for him, the Carroburg fans are nowhere near him, and he can limp back to the Marauders KO-Box. A desperate Johnson dodges Martin, picks up the ball and tosses it as deep into Cascade Territory as he can. Cascade sends Krukenberg forward into a scoring position, but he is plowed into the grass by Brian Schwenke and the Cascade is forced to change their plans. Instead, Hoffman passes to Turbin, who makes the hand-off to Ballard. He fends Pryor off with one hand and drives him down into the grass while running in the TD just as the ref blows the whistle.

Before the second half, the Cascade feels confident. THey are Ahead 1-0 and starts with the ball, and even though the Marauders can Field eleven players, they are not all of top quality. They start well on their drive, With Althoff KO'ing Johnson and Martin KO-ing WAlker, but quickly bogs down around midfield, and slowly the hard-fighting and harrd-hitting Marauders are turning the tide. Schwenke sends Raoul off KO'd, and the Cascade changes side and try to advance on their left flank, but an excellent blitz by Phillips stuns Graham and thus delays the Cascade advance enough to allow other Marauder players to help and the Cascade drive bogs down again. Krukenberg tries to pull back a little, but that only makes it worse, and as Schwenke KO's Martin, Phillips can Block Krukenberg and sends him off KO'd. Suddenly, the ball is loose, and the Marauders are 9 vs 8! Cascade tries to stabilise the situation, but when Turbin and Scheidel are also KO'd, they are down to 6 players vs Marauders 8, and Ryan Broyles has grabbed the ball and pedals for the Cascade goalline. With seconds left to og, Althoff makes a last, desperate attempt to stop the Marauders from equalising the game. His blitz is excellent, and Brolyes crashes to the ground! Even though Broyles manages to kick Althoff in the face, get back up on his feet and grab the ball, he is just short of the Cascade goalline when the ref, helped entusiastically along by the Crimson fans blows the final whistle!!

On their way home, the Cascade players are satisfied with the first half of the season. We got points in all the games, except the hard-fought game against the Sharks, and are securely lodged at the Wild card spot, and can even become division winners if the Vikings loose their remaining match against the Wolfskins. We have lost only two rookie players and are in 5th Place in the League with respect to TD and cas difference. In the next half of the season the second match against the Vikings will become a key match, and then we will also meet the fearsome teams from the KFH North division, With two of them, the Unicorns and the Universe, better ranked than the Cascade. ”
