“The Valdimar Eagles scrape through to the 2nd round of the FUMBBL cup in an epic (and very tense) game!

The Eagles received first half and set about trying to bash the Pixies, knocking several off the pitch and scoring on T8 to make it 1-0 at the half. They were fortunate when a stray fireball from the stands only knocked over 1 player (the ballcarrier) and the bouncing ball was caught by one of the nearby catchers.

The Pixies received at the start of the 2nd and patiently waited to find a gap in the Eagle's line. A slight defensive error gave them an opportunity, which they took to run the ball through. They scored on T8 and the Eagles failed their attempted 1-turn TD, sending the game into overtime.

The Pixies won the coin toss, and the advantage seemed to be with them, however the Eagles defended solidly. A chance came for the Pixies to seal the game when one of their lineelves found a way through the Eagle's defense and only had to sprint a few yards to reach the endzone. However, in a cruel twist of fate, he tripped over just before the line, giving the Eagles an opportunity to take the initiative. With the clock running down, and the Eagle's fans going bananas, they ran the ball down field. The Pixies put a lot of pressure on the ball, to try to force an error, but the Eagle's held their nerve, with Jarel Starfire dodging through to set up Mr. Cool for the winning TD. Coach JellyBelly had to be taken away and treated for a mild heart attack just before the final whistle blew ..

Thanks again for the game, Fluffy, and sorry to knock you out in the first round. Definitely one of the closest games I've had on FUMBBL. I got lucky - I got my 2+ rolls to score, but you didn't get yours. Anyway, we'll look forward to a rematch sometime! :)”
