We received the opening kick-off, and two turns in, we had a Pestigor seriously injured and a Nurgle Warrior in the KO box. We managed to out flank our opponents with the ball, and lock them up thanks to our Beast's tentacles. Undermanned and without any clear ability to stall for any extended period of time, we scored quickly, on turn 3.

Going up against a wizard, we were happy to put one TD in the bank. We figured that the other wizard may be sufficient to give our opponent a free score later in the game, but figured if we played good defence in either the rest of the first half or the second (whichever didn't involve the wizard) we could at least earn a draw. As we are currently in first place, our main goal was to ensure we didn't take a loss. A draw would be a disappointing, yet acceptable, outcome.

We kicked, and were able to position ourselves well. Our tentacles locked up a few Chaos Dwarves and our cannon-fodder rotters occupied Grashnak Blackhoof.

Our 5 AG Pestigor, Quax made dodges into 2 TZ (3+) and then 1 TZ (2+) to get into position to assist on a blitz vs. the ball carrier. Our team captain, Humphrey, dodged his way twice (with dodge skill) and went for it once, to 2 BD blitz the ball carrier.

Not only did Humphrey knock down the bull centaur, but he knocked him out. To add insult to injury the ball bounced directly into the arms of Nurgle Warrior Wartears while in a TZ.

Wartears managed to withstand contact and then on our turn, we chain blitzed to put Wartears out of opponents TZs, allowing him to run around the corner and GFI twice to create some separation (also needed since it was T6 and he was still a bit our of range of the end zone)!

The best the Chaos Dwarves could muster was a -2BD hit against him which he withstood. We were easily able to push the Dwarf out of the way and have Wartears run off towards the endzone. With no one around, we positioned Quax 2 squares away but close enough that should Wartears be wizarded, we could still score on a 2+ (with RR).

This forced Kaosubaloo to not Wizard, allowing for us to get a second TD in the half. That was crucial, pretty much securing the win. Again, to add insult to injury, due to poor KO rolling, star player Zzharg was forced to take the field for a single play resulting in a sent-off for his secret weapon. The KO rolls returned for the second half, giving the Dwarves a full line-up but without a significant chunk of TV.

We more-or-less played a contain game for the entire second half, but took a bit of a beating while doing so. Hudor was permanently injured, losing a movement, which can be particularly damaging for a player that relies on getting into opponents tackle zones.

We managed to steal the ball but failed the 2+ Hand-off. The wizard zapped Quax who was adjacent to the ball, giving them an attempt to recover and possibly score. They managed to get the ball but we were able to pin the 4 strength Hobgoblin, Spike, to the sidelines, eventually KOing him.

We were unable to secure the ball and make a late push for a third score. But, our opponents had a chance for a late T15 score, but failed the 5+ pass attempt (Short Pass + Disturbing Presence).

Overall, we took quite a beating, but came away with a tough W. With our last two matches coming vs. Skaven and High-Elf, who are both in contention for the division, we have some tough decisions to make about the future of past star players like Hudor, whose 3 MA may become more of a liability. We will likely be retiring him.

The Rotter's are the League champions and they earned the position. Even for Non-Dwarves, the Children knew this would be a hard match and so they brought their A-Game right from the start.

Hudor and some of his teammates managed to tie up Star Player Volfogg early on and turn the opening he made into an early touchdown, even as Kamille inflicted the first of what would prove to be many casualties to the Rotters.

The mercenary Zzharg Madeye contributed greatly to the game plan by distracting Hudor later on and serving to help break the Rotter line, freeing Dwarves for more important things, like teaching the dead that they can die again. The second mercenary, Grashnak Blackh, sat on the bench during the first half with the intention to up the Children's ball game in the second half, only to be banned by an unsympathetic referee when he needed to briefly take the field to cover Star Player Volfogg's mid-game nap.

Going into the second half the Children were down 2 to 0. Things were looking grim and it was time to start murdering. Exterminator Kamille did what he did best, murdered a rotter and eventually crippled Hudor himself. Kicker did what he did best by and knocked out a downed Warrior with a swift blow to the head and Rouma broke a Pestigor's back. It was, in short, a bloodbath. But did it pay off?

Spike quickly picked up the ball in an attempt at a quick touch down in the hopes that Star Player Volfogg would be able to steal the ball after kickoff and even up the game. This risky strategy came preciously close to paying off, but Kicker lost his footing to a squad of Prestigors mere yards from the touchdown zone. He managed to retake the ball with the help of Star Player Volfogg and Nono, as well as the team wizard, but by then he was surrounded and unable to get the ball the rest of the way.

In a desperate play with seconds left in play, the ball was bounced out of the field and to the feet of Hobgoblin Kimiko. Star Player Volfogg made it to the End Zone and was ready to receive the pass, but Kimiko, who was brought in part-way through the Children's secret mountain training, missed a critical lesson in throwing the ball. She fumbled the throw, once again denying Star Player Volfogg the chance to show off his star catching skills, and the game ended.
