“MINIORK REGRETS LEAVING WOMBLES

The Underworld Wombles kicked off their 145 Tournament campaign by giving a good kicking to their arch rivals Forkiver. The talk in the build up centered on the fiery rivalry between the two sides coaches as well as the Orc sides controversial signing of Goblin lineman Miniork, former star of the Wombles who activated a release clause in his contract to sign for the Orcs. (That's why you should never let goblin agents negotiate contracts!) 

The match kicked off in the glorious sunshine of Forkiver Park where the atmosphere was electric! Literally as many of the crammed in Skaven fired off warp lightning guns at the kick off which gave the arena a putrid smell of burnt fur but the impact was felt as numerous orc fans fled the stadium leaving the away fans in control.

The first half was dominated by a strong Orc line pushing relentlessly against ever running Skaven and goblins. Sheltered within the Orc bunker of players sat Miniork with the ball ready for his signature troll throw which had scored numerous TD's for the Wombles in preseason. His new troll partner Trololo had obviously put in the hours as Miniork sailed majestically over the heads of the shocked Skaven players landing perfectly before running off down the pitch for a certain TD. As he smugly skipped towards the Endzone he failed to spot a banana peel on the floor and comically tripped badly hurting himself and needing medical attention.

Andy Onehand, Wombles star QB, gathered the loose ball and along with his remaining Skaven managed to run up the field screening off those Orc players not celebrating a TD they thought they'd scored before running it in for a 1 - 0 Womble lead at halftime.

The second half saw the Wombles receiving and Andy Onehand plucked the ball out of the air deep in his half before running with the Wombles classic half cage formation. However the Wombles offence struggled to crack what was rock hard Orc armour but when any Orc went down they were quickly mobbed by gangs of goblins kicking wildly. This proved effective as an Orc Blocker was removed by the skinny legs of Ooligan the Goblin who was promptly dismissed by the ref. 

This proved the catalyst for the Wombles who had been up to this point been slowly forced back by the unstoppable Orc advance as soon pinpoint Womble blitzes started making holes in the Orc line which Onehand exploited running clear of the Orc mob who began squabbling about who's fault it was before chasing the Skaven runner and almost catching him by the tail if not for the heroics of Gob the Yob who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and got piled on by numerous Orc players with his ankle being smashed in the process. Onehand crossed the line for a 2 - nil Womble lead.

The final part of the game saw Forkiver try to push for a consolation TD but their inability to pick up the ball (rumours persist that a Wombles player coated it in butter during the celebrations) cost them and the later stages of the game simply become a shoving match between the two teams before the final whistle brought the sensational game to an end which saw numerous Forkiver goblin fans changing their Forkiver jersey for a Wombles one. 

Wombles will hope to push on with this victory and take the tournament by storm as Forkiver remain a solid and tough team.
