#18 Duane Darkrock – Smashed Hand (MNG)
#19 George Coldbrook – Smashed Collar Bone (-ST)
#22 Albert Whitehammer – Smashed Hip (-MA)
Here we go again.

I scored quickly. The rats came back with Fezglitch so weren't really in a hurry to score while he was doing his thing. Fortunately, his thing seems to be to knock himself over, so he was carted off after causing a single injury. The rest of the half was a slow advance by the fast and agile rats - their gutter runners being the real difference between the two teams as their combination of speed and skills meant I was never likely to succeed in stopping them without some lucky POWs. Sadly, all my lucky POWs were being saved for later, so Les Etoiles finished off the half with a turn 8 walk-in.

The second half was more of the same, but in a slightly less amicable fashion. Despite El-Destochado having argued the call to keep Fezglitch available, the crazy rat decided to stay in the KO box (which was rather nice of him, from my point of view). The rat ogre was starting to be a nuisance so the tree had to take care of him, knocking him over and then standing there waiting for him to get up again. Unfortunately for Les Etoiles, they needed their blitzes elsewhere and their ogre just didn't want to get back up with a move action.

The final few turns saw the cream of the rats team safely tucked up in a box, waiting for turn 8 while their loners tried to do as much damage as possible to the wood elf loners. There was a lot of unnecessary blocking on both sides, some unnecessary blitzing with gfis from the tree, and a couple of fouls because, why not? But in the end, we both still had enough players to make my attempt at a one-turn TD both possible, and challenging.

Now came my lucky dice. Throw a Rock cleared a passage through the deep defence, the throw and catch were flawless, and for once I was happy to see a whole pile of push-backs on my blocking dice. Sure feet took care of the first failed gfi, and a reroll took care of the final one. The score was mine!

So once again, I salvaged a draw from a losing situation thanks to my opponent preferring to stall rather than score. I can understand El-Desdichado wanting to stretch things out while he has a rat ogre with block and Fezglitch doing damage every turn, but in my opinion, the second half was just a wasted opportunity for him. He could have scored two, maybe three times with a bit of luck. And every score (mine or his) would have been another opportunity to get Fezglitch back on the field.

Oh well. I'm not complaining. I hate Fezglitch.
