#9 Promisingloner Turningpro – Dead (RIP)
#10 Pollenbreeze Sneezingfit – Dead (RIP)
Well, that was rather unpleasant.

This is the first time these guys have been out of the box in a VERY long time, and to say that they are a bit rusty would be a gross understatement. They sucked. I mean, really, really sucked. Apart from Easypeasy, the legendary thrower, who actually had a storming game. 7 for 53. It would have been a few more, but his final long bomb was fumbled by the catcher (actually the other thrower).

But as for the rest of the game, it was a mess. The treeman killed himself with his very first block, and all credit to the apo for patching him up. However, this did leave the apo unavailable for either of the other two deaths - one at the hands of my opponent, another self-inflicted. In fact, the self-inflicted one was somewhat conclusive, with me rolling 6,6 for the armour roll, 6,6 for the injury roll and 6,6 for the injury. It really doesn't get much more certain than that.

Although it came close a few more times, like the pass that was intercepted on a 6, and then the safe throw was a 1, rerolled to a 1. That was also pretty definitive.

Apart from that though, it was mostly just mediocre. Badly hurt? Pah, that's nothing. Another badly hurt? Meh. Go for it? Of course not.

As for the game itself, we began in sweltering heat, then moved on to nice weather after the first score. That was me, getting in a quickie to get the ball rolling. daemonik then replied in a comfortable fashion, followed by a more desperate and lucky score from the wood elves who were forced to rely on the handling skills of a journeyman in order to get the score.

After the half, the high elves scored on their own drive and then again on the interception, and although I tried for a late equaliser, there were just too many high elves left and too few wood elves left. Oh, and I failed a go for it with the only guy who was still in a position to score.

So, sweeping that lot quickly under the carpet, let's move on.

California Sun have been sitting around idle for months now, but after a disastrous game with my other Ranked woodies in which their legendary thrower was killed, I've decided to split the workload between the two teams. She's a Sensation has now become a team centred around their monster tree, Thursdaynight Guitarclub, who is on a quest to become the most valuable player ever. In the meantime, California Sun will have to take on the roll of my legendary thrower factory.

At the moment we have two interesting specimens. Easypeasy is already a legend, of course, but he's sitting just outside the all-time top 10 for most yards passing and so that will be his next goal. He's kind of battered, and isn't really that great, with no +AG or strong arm, but he's nothing if not determined. He'll probably die soon, and Iateawhole Chocolateorange is already gearing up to be a very respectable replacement - although his stats today were a bit off as he was on hand-off duty.

I think it will take me a few games to get the hang of the team, and to work up a couple more catchers, but I'm already looking forward to the prospect... just as long as there aren't too many more games like this. That's no reflection on my opponent. daemonik wasn't exactly trying to dismantle my team, and in its own way, the game was a lot of fun. It was just a bit too painful. To paraphrase some famous old bloke from long ago: "another such loss and I'm done for!"
