#3 Aaron Plattekill – Fractured Arm (MNG)
NWC Championship

This match had everything! Blood! Defense! Explosions!...

Ok, it didn't have explosions, but what a defensive struggle it was.
Roxbury came out fouling, and it was having its intended affect. Late in the 1st, we fouled Rhaegar, his ST5 Blodge Tents SF Chaos Warrior to a MNG. He apo'ed it, which would prove extremely wise. The defense held at the end of the 1st.

The second was looking ok, and then the skulls came. The ball bounded out, and Rhaegar proved to be insurmountable for the 2nd half. I just had no way of dealing with him effectively, as I couldn't knock him down to foul him.

Well, I struggled and struggled, and had an "ok" opportunity to run away with the ball in the 2nd half, but it was my last RR (OTS didn't have any left). I thought that I'd at least have an ok chance in OT, so I played more conservatively for then.

Unfortunately, I knew OTS had a Keg as his inducement. The bad part about it is that I was up on t6 (when I decided not to use my final RR on the chance) in the KO body count. The last few turns saw 2-3 more go out, and I now feared I'd lose the attrition battle, despite him only fielding a max of 8.

He received for OT, and we went at it as hard as we could, but the ball stalled on the ground around the Rhaegar. I finally managed to put him down, and get a Ghoul to the ball. I tried to tuck him above a line for him, but he was discovered, and sent to the ground. From there, I had opportunity after opportunity to pick up and run it down the field, but I just couldn't pick the damn thing up.

Finally, t7, I freed the ghoul, and ran him down the field for t8, thinking that at least if I can get the thing picked up with my Wight, I'd have someone in scoring position, even if I bobble it on t7 (which I did).

OTS's set up let me a chance to chain push out my Ghoul to get to a free ball, pick it up (which he had to use Pro to do, thank goodness), scramble, heave it, and have the Ghoul catch it to run into the End Zone. It was a crazy, wild end to an awesomely played game.
