#18 Alexander Bluestream – Dead (RIP)
The Aterlanta Falcons. I dream about beating them...I dream about being them. Is that weird? Perhaps a bit, but they are legend, and legendarily stylish with it. I mean just think about it, a team of high elves without a single tackle or mighty blow and they still have a better win record than most teams you'll see...AND THEY HAVE A TR OF NEARLY 3K!

I love playing against them. It's a guaranteed pass-fest, even if you're on the losing side because the Falcons play to impress, not just to win - that just seems to happen along the way.

Anyway, enough about them, let's move on to the wood elves.

5 journeymen, two mercenaries, two star players - and a handful of my own players in there as well. This was not likely to be a game I was going to win, but it's a lazy Sunday afternoon and the sun is shining in through the window and I'm pleasantly full of coffee and I just felt like a tactical challenge, rather than a "let's see how many wood elves can survive this one, then" sort of game, so it didn't matter that the Falcons were over 1K higher rating. Just think what I could do with all that inducement cash...

Morg? Nah, it wasn't going to be that sort of a game. With almost every high elf being a side-stepping blodger and me having just a single tackle, getting them off the field was going to be a case of pure luck and was unlikely to happen more than once or twice. No, it was going to be a game of agility, so I went with Eldril and Jordell. Eldril's pass block was never going to be of much use against a safe thrower (and a coach who thinks before he throws) but the hypnotic gaze was worth his match fee on its own. And Jordell was responsible for securing my third score with an AG5 dodge, pick-up and pass just when I needed it (after the thrower KOd himself on a gfi trying for a long bomb into the endzone from his own half...in the rain!)

In fact, the passing was superb today, with a combined total of 11 for 81 between the two teams.

And there was some blood, too. Both apothecaries were called on to do their stuff and both (thankfully) came up trumps and prevented a -MA for the high elves and a death for the woodies. A journeyman also died, but
that's kind of their job.

In the end, with the score at 3-3, the Falcons had the opportunity to take the win on their final drive. They had plenty of time, and they certainly had the tools to do it with, but somehow it just didn't come together. The wood elves got in a couple of turns of good blocking when it really mattered and the final play from the Falcons was a blitz/run down the sidelines from their star, Bulium and his ST4 AG6. But sadly for him he tripped and fell and the wood elves scraped a draw.

And to be honest, a draw against the Falcons really feels like a win. I've played Hard five times now, and our scores are currently standing at 24 - 9, so this was far and away my best showing against him.

People play this game for different reasons. Some people play to win at all costs, some to 'kill all mens'. I play to throw the ball further, and more often, than anyone else on the site and also, along the way, to create some spectacularly memorable legendary players. I'm not sure why Harad plays, but if it's to inspire others, he's doing a fabulous job.

As for me? Well, more fans have returned, which is nice, and Thursdaynight took the MVP, so he now has just six to go. That's about 20 games or so. After that, my challenge is to get him beyond 600 games, which will push him above Mr T in the Oldest Player category - now that really would be an achievement!
