#5 Mildforthe Timeofyear – Broken Ribs (MNG)
This is how to celebrate FUMBBL's birthday - 34 turns of intense concentration, strategy, skill and a touch of luck along the way.

And 10 spectators at the end - I think that's my record, although I'm not fooling myself as to why they were there. The Falcons are legend.

Stuff happened. Lots of stuff, but mostly ball stuff. There was almost no blood at all - which is perhaps not surprising when the only mighty blow on the field was the tree and both coaches were more concerned with getting the ball over the line as often as possible and not clearing the field.

I had a lot of chances to score, and I coped with the two blitzes against me reasonably successfully, but I messed up on a couple of crucial occasions in the second half so it took a lot of last-turn luck to salvage the draw.

Eldril was a star today, using his hypnotic gaze several times to excellent effect. Jordell was more of a distraction than anything, but at least he was there to tie up one of the diving tacklers most turns. My own wardancers were so-so - ok on the blitzes but crummy when it came to leaping. And Thursdaynight sauntered into the number three Oldest Player position with a truly unremarkable performance which involved knocking over a rookie lineman several times to no effect, and not much else. Still, he survived, which is what he's best at.

The passing game was predictably pleasant.

And as an added birthday present both skill rolls were doubles.

But why, why, do our fans insist on abandoning us (both teams) after such an epic performance? Do they have no appreciation for the finer things in life?
