#1 Mayaswell Tryagain – Dead (RIP)
#2 Lateafternoon Wintersunset – Broken Neck (-AG)
Well, that has to be one of the POW-iest games I've ever endured and not in a good way! Almost every block WizardX11 made had a POW in there somewhere, and two of them dealt very convincingly with both my wardancers - one with a -AG which I will probably retire, even though he's my only proper offensive weapon, and one as an outright kill.

Still, apart from this, it was a close and exciting game and I got to throw A LOT of passes. Last time out against WizardX11 Briskbreeze managed a personal best of 9 for 86, and this time he managed an even more impressive 9 for 90 - another personal best.

As you would expect with two elf teams, the game was fast and high-scoring. The wood elves won the toss and received, and two turns later were in the lead. The Elderitch council 2 then pulled one back comfortably, only to see the wood elves go ahead again two turns later.

Then the pattern was interrupted when a failed block from the union allowed me to get in a cheeky long bomb for a score, but I wasn't able to prevent a final-turn score in return so it was 3-2 at the half.

And then 3-3 after the union's first drive of the second half.

That's when I finally messed something up, with my trusty MA9 catcher falling over on his third go for it and leaving the thrower just in blitz range of a desperate lineman. POW. Stunned. I rushed back with a couple of players, and even managed to get the ball into the hands of a catcher, but on the following turn the same union lineman blitzed once more. POW, KO. Touchdown.

So now it was my turn to play catch-up, and with my main offensive wardancer out, it was up to the second one to step up and show what he was made of...

...not much is the answer, as he was killed on the very next turn. But I did at least manage the score.

The Eldritch council 2 then had two turns to get the lead back, and even though there was a sudden blizzard, they didn't have any problems, even pausing for a sneaky turn 16 foul before running in the score. And I certainly wasn't going to try a one-turner myself, not in a blizzard and with only seven players available...

But then the blizzard went away and it became really sunny. I threw the long bomb, and when the MA9 catcher caught it, I thought I may as well give it a go. This did involve the usual three go for its, as well as a dodge into, and then out of, two TZs, but all the luck I wasn't having with the blocking game came back to me when I most needed it, and the final result was a very lucky draw.

Was it worth the loss of two wardancers? Absolutely. Am I going to struggle in my next few games? Absolutely. But such is life as a wood elf.

Fun, fun.
