“A good game, despite being totally clobbered cas-wise. My boys moved up the side of the pitch early, squeaking past his defenders for the early 1-0 lead. I kickoff, and send a couple guys around the side of his line, just in case something happens. Something did--a failed gfi I believe--and his ball carrier was sitting duck for my two guys in his backfield to pick his pocket and score once again. Third kickoff, he tries to have his troll throw his goblin, only to fumble the gobbo. I swoop in to pick up the ball, but make a mistake and give the ball back to him. At least I prevent him from scoring, so at the half it's 2-0.

Second half I kick and he manages to throw his gobbo forward to race to paydirt, a one-turn td. It was the first time I've seen a gobbo thrown effectively, so I was more amused than annoyed at having my lead halved. Besides, I figured there wouldn't be too much trouble re-extending the lead, and there wasn't. Except now I've lost the Count, the star player I hired to fill in while my ogre took the day off to visit some family on his birthday. Str 5 blodger gets knocked over, bh, does not regen. Have to save my apo in case something dire happens to one of my guys, so buh-bye, Count. (As it turns out the only bad thing was a MNG, so my apo went unused. Phooey.)

He lines up to throw his gobbo again, but this time I get perfect defense and he's unable to free up his troll to throw. So he tries to do it the old fashioned way, racing around the outside, but it was for naught. His thrower wasn't able to gfi to make his throw, leaving me to get the ball. I had a choice of whom to throw it to, but instead I opted to toss upfield to where nobody was near. No chance for him to score again, game over.

It's quite rare for my boys to be out-cas'd, glad most were just bh's. Good game, Maverick. Good job not giving up when I had 85% luck to your 25% early on.”
