There was some serious smack-talk going down by both coaches prior to the kick-off of this inter-conference rivalry. Air Force had made a promise after the last match that Blitzer Frank Andrews would get his revenge for bring pinned to the sideline that first game by injuring as many players as he could. Miami made the promise to introduce Frank to some of their fans...


Air Force won the coin toss and elected to receive, bringing with them Star Players Nobbla Blackwart and Glart Smashrip. Miami set up somewhat conservatively, but it was a feign, as the moment to the ball was in the air the squad from Miami Blitzed the LOS, and knocked Nobbla unconscious. Air Force recovered the kick and protected the ball deep in the pocket, as Frank began making hits against Miami players. Miami's defense started off on a sloppy note, allowing Air Force and the ball to slip past via one of the wide zones, setting up a screen, but they got things in gear, knocking the ball loose and sending in some spare players to cover the ball. But Frank started making good on his coach's promise; after two successful KOs, Frank badly hurt Elijah Woodhousii, and set up favorable positioning to recover the ball. But you can't front on Drakensberg, the ultimate weapon, who leapt out from double-coverage (and was in danger of being surfed), blitzed away the stat freak thrower, dodged out, recovered the ball and ran downfield. The following turn proved tragic for Miami, as not only was Air Force able knock the ball loose, Blitzer Payton Olongburra was killed in a freak block. Miami got back up and recovered the ball, doing there best to put as much distance as they could between Air Force and the ball, themselves killing a goblin in the process. Still, with a sneaky 1d blitz, the ball was again on the ground. Fighting to maintain possession, Miami secured the ball and stalled outside of the endzone as Air Force killed Goliath, leaving a giant red smear where the Kroxigor once stood. With 6 players on the pitch and no way to protect the ball, Miami opted to score, taking the lead, 1-0, but not before further crippling a line rat. Air Force received the kick off with two turns left to equal the score, as they knocked out two of Miami's players and set up a lane for the ball to be ran through. Miami answered back with some hits of their own, knocking the ball loose before recovering, and marking any potential scoring threat, as the first half ended 1-0, Miami in the lead.

The second half, both teams playing at full strength, and Miami receiving. The ball came in deep, giving the BallHawks a bit of a safety net, and they used that net to lay a crippling hit on Blitzer Jimmy Doolittle, smashing his hip into fragments. Air Force began a full press into the Miami half, causing the BallHawks to collect the ball and begin making moves of their own towards the LOS. Meanwhile Frank maimed yet another Miami player, his third for the match, before a lone goblin proceeded in trapping Miami's ballcarrier against the sideline. Miami escaped, but were again quickly trapped by Air Force. It took a chain push to move Miami and the ball towards safety, where they begin to stall at the endzone. It was while stalling that the rest of the match played out, which was just a series of brutal hits and fouls being throw by both teams. One such play included a series of block which pushed Blitzer Frank Andrews off of the pitch and into the crown, knocking him unconscious. It appeard both coaches stayed true to their promises. Miami then ran in the touchdown to take home the victory. But at what cost?

Another tremendous match up between these two teams, with Air Force's inflicted injuries having a potential influence on Miami's impending Out of Conference matches, as well as their bowl bid. And for their troubles, Air Force was rewarded with some additional strength on the Uber-Elf thrower. A frightening prospect which Miami will likely be facing next season.
